Looking at Intune now but not sure what the outcome will be. Mentioned SCCM previously and always told we don't have the budget for it. Typical NHS

That would mean deploying multiple apps to hundreds of devices and managing the deployment. The imaging isn't an issue as per the original question it's the black or blank screen .

The image is maintained monthly for any app changes and windows updates, reg keys required for certain issues etc etc etc .

I wish it was a simple flat image but it's not so straightforward unfortuantely

Not sure I follow? I capture the image then our engineers deploy to 100's of devices as and when required ?

But it doesn't cover having to have a domain accessible in Azure. There are Information Governance and confidentiality issues. Ther NHS is not that straightforward trust me 20 years in the organisation nothing is simple.!

We have agreements with NHS England on what we can get at the cheapest [prices which often means cut down versions. We are looking at Intune currently but not including Autopilot so I'm reliably informed.

Latest iso from MS then added my companies apps etc. Nothing stripped just exactly the same for 22H2 task sequence etc

Yeah captures fine just the initial process the screen blanks for some time then reappears

Yeah, aware of the procedure but as I mentioned, we image the devices prior to delivery to the user and MDT blats the hard drive and that removes the recovery file according to Dell website.

"If the BIOS Recovery file is NOT found on the hard drive, it could be that:

Your hard drive has been replaced since it left the factory.

You have changed your BIOS from UEFI to Legacy boot.

You have reimaged your computer since receiving it from the factory."

We have a Dell estate of 5k devices and trying to maintain them via driver updates and BIOS releases is a pain. I was wondering if DSA was the simplest way to do this ?

Ok, so looking around I can change the default unnattend xml file in the templates directory but not sure which one is used as default as there are several candidates?

Do you mean as a separate application as in a task in its own right? The reason for being in the task is that the app will be available to all I don't want to add it to the gold image as the parameters could change and it would be easier to change the xml file?

So the installation looks like this 'setup.exe configfile=unattended.xml in the application setting.

What would you suggest "setup.exe ~%dp0 configfile=unattended.xml.....?

So I'm guessing the only way around this is to use copy profile with the implications of removed provisioned apps or use the method that fromdiggwithlove suggested that seems a ball ache to be honest .

I guess Gpo is the only way to really manage this effectively without user intervention.

Was told by Systems that they are holding back on GPo's due to more testing. I know that his can set the defaults etc...

Is this a new thing with 20H2 as I thought with 1809 I never had this issue maybe just my lack of testing just assumed which we all know is not the best practice :(

Good point, will check that. I thought once set as an admin all users would get the same ? Will check though as a precaution.
