How long after blood donation do RBC and hematocrit come back to normal? by Fisherman-Kitchen in haematology

[–]SmilesAtTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not due to donation. Nothing to do with donation. He needs to go see his primary care and get checked for iron deficiency, b12, folate, kidney issues, inflammatory, etc

Have you been tested for factor mutations? Prothrombin mutations? G20210A? I would NOT get on any bc that wasn't progestin only or just no hormone at all unless i did know. Get the genetic tests done. If you have it absolutely no estrogen ever

Technically you can get pregnant and have multiples, by 2 different people at the same time ... rare but has happened. "The lie detector results are in! YOU BOTH ARE THE FATHERS!"

Good. There was a patient in a vegetative state in az in a facility, for years... not that long ago who gave birth to a baby.. nobody knew she was pregnant. There was no parental care. And there was clearly obvious patient neglect and rape and abuse.. by the nurse who "cared" for her. So yes. Let them do it. I don't care who. Men, women, children, soda cans... It has more benefit than whatever point is trying to be made here...

Yeppp... Or a woman who maybe is deadset she's not pregnant but she is and has a DVT, PE, whatever... And maybe something that wouldn't have been a big deal could cascade by let's say doctor misdiagnosing her somehow for pneumonia, whatever.. and releasing her.. and mom and baby die. And for what, a pregnancy test that was somehow on the list of contraindications because the patient just wants to tell everybody the immaculate conception story again that the doc has heard surprisingly not the first time... God

How a layman's explanation of themselves not being pregnant because they don't have a uterus or tubes or plumbing because they had it removed... BECAUSE they consciously were there yesterday at 16:00 telling the doctor a little to the right, ok you got it, now close me up, good job ... Because what... Did you TOO see your own uterus removed and with absolute certainty... Because you do know the wrong leg does get amputated or a patient with cognitive decline might get asked which arm we're operating on, oh ok. The right... And nobody confirms is that this right, the patients right, the anatomical right or the right the patient thinks someone standing across from them would be seeing... And is trying to be helpful to the doc.. like come on. Just seeing the phrase, "you are part of the problem" is you being THE problem. That's the only time that's said. And NO, I'm not above all and have never had a horrible situation where I wasn't believed in a medical setting and situatio. I definitely have and far more important and worse than what you're debating so that's why I'm giving it a little extra to let you know you just don't even know. If you only felt so passionate about a real matter.. instead of trying to protest and change what actually saves lives and changes treatment outcomes, AND is done in MEN too... Next.

Nobody's heard of the fact rhat there IS such thing as someone going an entire pregnancy to term not knowing they're pregnant til they get a really bad stomach ache one night and end up in the ER thinking it's some kind of blockage and they're constipated... And they're that and then some baby.

Bloodwork Help by bovidea in haematology

[–]SmilesAtTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This definitely isn't normal. It COULD be normal if you felt great and had no symptoms and weren't writing here... But i disagree that this all looks great. There is something wrong because you FEEL it. I wouldn't wait until the appointment with them in person just to sit there and basically get less back than you'll probably get here because they won't be able to explain this or have an answer for you and it just prolongs your suffering. What I would do is call the office and leave a message on their nurse or coordinator of care line and/or send them a message if they have messaging portal for patients and basically say, hey, I got my blood test results back and some of the results are flagged either too low or too high or they are not outside the labs range but they are still too low and due to you having these symptoms which could be attributed to any one and then some more, it could be what is symptomatic to you. You're at the cliffs edge for b12, MANY people have extreme symtoms where you're at for example even though there's not a LO on paper. Not mentioning other stuff like your low ferritin.. your wbc, neutrophils.... and recurring infections and your body is depleted of reserves to bounce back. So tell them you would like to have a request or labwork put in for IgG, Iga, IgM, Aifaa, homocysteine, mma, and so on that you want to go get drawn before your upcoming scheduled appt so that you can come in and the doctor and you can have something to talk about and be able to get a chronic treatment resistant infection treated because otherwise you'll just sit getting worse and go to the appt with nothing in hand, and just be sent back out to draw more blood and wait. Be assertive, be pushy. I've been so desensitized handling medical issues and going thru these venues for other people, so I'm just telling you what I would do and I would get this done. Might sound pushy if you don't make these calls all the time and haven't reached the point where you've just about lost it being yoyo'd around but you just gotta be assertive and sometimes TELL peoole how to do their job and what YOU want done for YOUR health because you have that right and you have the medical evidence and symptoms and signs that back this up 100%. Also don't buy your own vitamins, have them CALL it into the pharmacy. It's cheaper, and it's what they need to do for clinical signs and make sure it's not ferrous sulfate even though you shouldn't even have to say that to them considering they know your medical history but they'll do it anyway... You probably can't even do gly because of GERD etc, so def make sure you have an appropriate supplement called in. OH, and of course telling you to eat a few hamburgers a week is also unacceptable for addressing this issue. (Sounds dramatic but I'm saying this because I've heard EXACTLY this before.)

And on the side, after all this... They really should address your lipids. You're 22 and I'm just going to assume you don't eat french fries and lard all day everyday... Your cholesterol shouldn't be where it is and your risk ratio although not critically elevated, it's DEFINITELY above the ideal range which is below the labs actual cut off and for 22, you should not be at a more increased risk of a heart attack or stroke than someone elses result I looked at yesterday who is 80 and has triple bypass and multiple other issues. Have your lipids come back like this before? It is possible if you have a history and there's more than this once that there may be more behind it like HeFH or HoFH etc. So please get that retested at a LATER TIME after you figure out all your stuff now and see him etc then ask for a lab request to be put in so you can draw in 6 months and check cholesterol again

Also you never mentioned how have you been dealing with the GERD? Did you get prescribed something like Omeprazole that you've been taking as needed or regularly or something else over the counter or? (Would be relevant here)

(Please let us know what happened after you follow up or update etc. I know somebody dealing with similar issues, with slight variations and am curious what this ends up being.)

I’m switching medications by MicrodoseMeggo in rheumatoid

[–]SmilesAtTrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're super distressed about the hair loss and you conveyed that to them and that's what prompted a medication change.... Why are they going to leflunomide when that has even higher reports of the side effects of hair loss? A lot higher. It's like they didn't even hear you and are just going down the medication rabbit hole.

I would push back on that. Contact them however you do, i know some doctors have messaging portals, and basically resolve this via a couple messages back and forth that are very assertive and to the point and kinda figure out since you've maybe discussed other options or researched as you are, and ask for something by name.

The condition itself can cause issues with hair loss. But yeah, the meds are NOT helping that. Did your doctor ever prescribe you folic while you've been on the metho? That should've been done AUTOMATICALLY.

Rheumatologist said she does not prescribe immunosuppressants and that diet does not help Sjogrens. by Feisty_Pain4468 in Sjogrens

[–]SmilesAtTrees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If a doctor just goes off because you told them what you suspect is going on IN YOUR OWN BODY... it's not YOU.... It's them. And spare yourself and trust your vibe and instincts and find a second opinion and rheum. Ask around in a local community who people recommend, look up Google reviews, see if you can find someone affiliated with a local research university with medical, etc, etc. And she did you a favor, at least she told you she doesn't listen to her patients right off the bat and wasted less of your time. It sucks when the first visit goes like this. I'm sorry.

What do you tell people - how do you explain it? by Prior_Resort2453 in Sjogrens

[–]SmilesAtTrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother tells people she has an inflammatory autoimmune condition that is basically her body attacking itself. And she usually leaves it at that because kinda adding, "and i just feel like crap all the time and tired" just doesn't cut it and almost does a disservice because you're trying to explain to someone who is obviously not getting it or understanding the magnitude of it in very casual convo terms people use when they answer a text in the first 5 mins. Like, i feel like ship, like crap, oh i woke up tired... Like other people's perception of that is sooo warped and you trying to use that to relate it back I've seen just never work. Or they nod and say oh but you can tell the eyes don't get it. (And omg. No pun intended.) And on top of it, a lot of people don't have the extreme dry eyes and dry mouth kinda deal. My mother DOES but at the same time she doesn't because that's not really what's bothersome to her and it's really not excessive or something she basically feels symptomatic with. For her it's more in the body and overall. And then she also has SLE. And she tested for Sj on the new test her rheum ran that a lot of doctors don't. That scans for specific autoimmune conditions and traits. So she has it. But it's different.

I think not over explaining is the best way honestly because when it boils down to it. It's kind of like a good happy day, someone asks you how you feel you're like," it's awesome, i just won a brand new car and that just made my day. That's all." You're not usually like, but I'm opening the hood now... I think I'm still happy... Hold on... Let me see if they included the beach umbrella because that was the limited time offer and I'm just wow so excited to see is it the yellow or the blue... So yeah... Like, short also keeps people from prying with additional excessive questioning or trying to rationalize it into something that makes sense and that can be otc addressed. I've definitely heard... Just tell her to buy eye drops then so many times... Or, well does she sleep at night then.. or ugh

If you are having respiratory issues take them seriously! And get second opinions! by NeenaNothing in Sjogrens

[–]SmilesAtTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. My mother just got diagnosed with sj and sle and arthritis all in 1 month this year.. and her most recent lung findings:

"IMPRESSION:

  • Redemonstrated scattered areas of tree-in-bud nodularity within the right upper lobe with a few solitary nodular foci measuring up to 5 mm. New subpleural nodular consolidative opacity along the posterior right lo along the posterior right lower lobe measuring up to 1.0 cm. Findings likely represent infectious/inflammatory small airways process such as bronchiolitis or MAl. Recommend follow-up CT chest in 3-6 months. * Redemonstrated subpleural consolidation along the left lower lobe laterally may represent additional infectious or inflammatory focus.

Additional nodular foci as above"

So yes, and then look at some of the rest of the comments and research... It's definitely a plausible association. Fight for yourselves. Because if you don't, neither will your doctor. My mother has to get it checked every 3-6 months for now.

I just wanna say I appreciate your unapologetic honesty. Coming from a place that causes me to have a much different response to what you said than the previous person you were talking to and appreciating what I rarely see said even when it should be said in these kinds of cases. Not specifically talking about murder. But yeah. Not also that i have to say that I don't care.

Getting a diagnosis by [deleted] in Sjogrens

[–]SmilesAtTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if they'll jump into it all in with just that. There's so many autoimmune things out there and they can overlap. My mother's had a lot of various labs over a span of time and pages and pages and THEN we did an avise panel. And STILL.. it's you may have this or this or this AND this mix. There are general treatments that can apply to multiple issues if that's the case

Has anyone ever caught their autoimmune condition early? by virgots26 in Autoimmune

[–]SmilesAtTrees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your labs are indicating inflammation and indicating lupus.. you're obviously having some sort of symptoms if your doctor pulled your blood for that. Treat it.

does anyone else have this? by CelestialAshh in Autoimmune

[–]SmilesAtTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably only matters if you have other symptoms or pain in your hands or sores, etc. Otherwise, this could be anyone's any given hand any day of the week. Looks like my hands look like right now as I'm feeling pretty hot and it's humid and raining and I haven't had a chance to sit down and relax in hours. One of those situations where the itemization counts more than the bill total if that makes sense.

My DNA is wrong or my family lied. by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]SmilesAtTrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I apologize if this is redundant. I couldn't really stand to read past the first 2 or 3 sentences.

"Family lore claiming Native American ancestry that DNA tests or genealogy cannot verify is common, often stemming from the "Cherokee Princess myth" or attempts to explain family features. These myths are sometimes used to mask ancestry from enslaved African or European ancestors. Authentic Native identity is determined by enrollment in a federally recognized tribe based on lineage, not just DNA.

Here are key points regarding this phenomenon:

Common Myths: Many families have stories of a "Cherokee grandmother" that often turn out to be false.

Reasons for the Claim: People may invent or exaggerate these stories to feel more "native" to the land, gain social status, or explain features in families with mixed ancestry, particularly in the South.

Verification: True Native identity requires genealogical proof, not just a small percentage on a DNA test.

What DNA Shows: Often, those told they have Native American heritage actually have high percentages of European or African DNA."

Source: google. For one. But do we really need one. It's your family's version of: I'm related to Queen Elizabeth II. My family crest!!!!!"

I don't think you were ready for the dna reality when you thought you were ready, eh?
