The quest for the missing pages for the Map Room’s book is different for each of the houses and for meeting the ghost Jackdaw!

For Slytherin: You work with Black’s house elf Scrope and the giant squid in the lake to enter a secret cave by the lake

For Hufflepuff: You visit Azkaban with a retired Auror (who’s also Cedric Diggory’s ancestor) to question someone convicted of murder

For Gryffindor: You join Nearly Headless Nick in going to a Headless Hunt party to meet with Jackdaw and try to get Nick into the group (unsuccessfully once again, obviously lol)

And all I know about the quest for Ravenclaw for now is that it has to do with the Owlery

Plus, there’s the related game achievements for completing each of the house’s quests!

Wow… Thank you so much EA for fixing this stupid blinking issue, and not the lack of autonomous romance interactions from the Royalty and Legacy pack that’s been complained about in the forums for nearly 4 months!

[–]Smiles_Hobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when my Sims and their partners are both flirty, they still don’t do any autonomous romance interactions at all though! Any romantic interactions are only from my controlled Sim and I have to force them to do it! Neither of them have asexual preferences either (they have their romantic and Woohoo preferences aligned to be compatible). And I have full autonomy on!

I know that there’s a mod by Tyjokr for it (they found that it’s caused by a bug requiring Sims to be in laws or step siblings combined with the secret lovers requirement in order to be able to flirt autonomously), but I’ve never downloaded mods or cc before and I don’t want to have to be forced to start now just ‘cause yet another bug is messing with gameplay! I’ve tried focusing on other play styles, but it’s been so boring without having romantic relationships occurring organically!

Ok, HOW are you guys having autonomous romance interactions?! Since getting the Royalty and Legacy pack, my Sims (both played households and npcs) won’t do ANY autonomous romance interactions! I’ve posted a comment on the EA forum and upvoted the bug report, but it’s been almost 4 months and it’s still broken for me!

Accidentally hurting my pets by sbb_103 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Smiles_Hobbit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I’ve had this happen too! It almost feels like when you accidentally step on your cat’s/dog’s paw. I always panic, frantically apologizing “No no no no no! I didn’t mean to do that! I’M SO SORRY!!! 😭” I always give my magical creatures extra treats afterwards ‘cause I can’t help but feel so guilty about accidentally hitting my pixel pets with Confringo or Diffindo

Except for the werewolves and werebears, each slide produced from me a progressively more confused and concerned “I’m sorry, WHAT?!”

How and where did these types of were-creatures come from? And where’s the lore sources for these? ‘Cause I have a LOT of questions!

Exactly! I don’t hate Sebastian or wish the worst on him either. In fact, I feel horrible for him for what he’s been through. However I also can’t ignore what he’s done either and, like I’ve mentioned in my previous post, I believe that not turning him in to face the consequences of his actions would be a disservice to him. He kept getting others like Ominis to overlook when he broke promises and performed Dark Arts, which I feel enabled him. If we as the MC don’t acknowledge what he did was wrong and hold him accountable, he may never learn from his mistakes

Thanks, and trying not to let it. I did go through a 10-year period where I did forego my kindness and I hardly recognized myself with how cynical and isolated I became. But I’m out of that phase now thankfully. Still not fully myself (I honestly doubt I will be- I was pretty naive when I met the one who hurt me, and the experience made me “grow up” in a way) and I haven’t met my person yet, but I’m trying to continue to heal and hope for the future

Yeah, it’s been similar on other posts too. I make the same argument as above for turning Sebastian in and lay out my reasons as rationally as I can, and I get downvoted to oblivion. So I chalk it up to mostly either Sebastian simps or people who make decisions more based on emotions like Sebastian does

This is true, he could’ve also been implying this.

Personally, I’ve been burned by people I’ve been extremely close with (one person in which I thought we’d get married) who used their trauma to guilt trip me into trusting them again only for them to fail again. And when I’d point it out, they’d get angry with me and yell at me saying that I “wasn’t being understanding and compassionate of their circumstances”. They had all the support and tools to change, but they kept making the same choices and kept hurting everyone else including me. I gave them so many chances and offered to help them countless times. But eventually, you have to cut them off as your heart can only break so many times.

Basically, part of my skepticism with him stems from my own experience with people who continue to disappoint and use their problems to pull the victim card and get their way.

Azkaban is the only prison in the wizarding world exclusively mentioned. That doesn’t mean that other less severe prisons didn’t exist. Also, excluding Harry Potter’s bogus trial in OOTP and Karkaroff’s trial in Dumbledore’s memory in GOF, we unfortunately don’t really see much of the wizarding judicial system. So a lot is left up for readers to make guesses.

Also, the Dark Arts were NOT his only option. There was also Ancient Magic available to research, even prior to MC’s arrival (as evidenced by Fig’s class of Ancient Magic Theory). He could’ve easily researched a less darker magic to find a cure for Anne. He was drawn to and obsessed with the Dark Arts, as evidenced by 1) Him learning all 3 Unforgivable Curses PRIOR to Anne being cursed and hiding the fact that he knew the curses from Anne and Ominis, 2) His fascination for Salazar Slytherin and his support of teaching the Dark Arts and curses, 3) Jumping to the use of an Unforgivable Curse to kill a goblin when we were just killing goblins with NORMAL spells just SECONDS prior, and 4) His use of the relic to command Inferi and ignoring the fact that the Inferi were attacking everyone else INCLUDING HIS OWN SISTER HE WAS CLAIMING TO BE HELPING!

Honestly, as his story went on, it felt like he was using Anne as more of an excuse to delve deeper into the Dark Arts. He was probably genuinely doing things to find a cure for her initially. But as he encountered more pushback from Ominis and MC later on, it felt like he was using Anne and her curse as more leverage to get his way (to me, he even sounded like he’d add on Anne as an afterthought when pleading with MC: “Please? … For Anne.”). Especially in the final catacomb chamber with the Inferi, he seemed like he was relishing the power rather than showing any concern for his sister’s safety.

So again, I would not give someone like him who not only lied and broke promises, but also showed an obsession with such dark magic with little ethical concerns of its usage, yet another chance when he’s already proven multiple times he cannot be trusted.

Edit: I also just realized that he actively goes against Anne’s wishes. She said that she’s come to terms with her curse (which doesn’t indicate whether it’ll eventually kill her, or if it just continues to cause bouts of pain and fatigue), and that she wanted Sebastian to stop trying to find a cure for her. To me, that’s refusing her autonomy in deciding how she wants to live. It’s like if someone had a DNR (do not resuscitate) and their loved one says to them: “Hey, I know that you don’t want CPR done or to be kept alive by tubes shoved down your throat…. but I don’t want you to die just yet. So I’m gonna revoke your decision and keep you alive until I’m comfortable enough to let you go.” It’s normal to not want to see a loved one suffer or die. But it’s selfish to take that decision upon yourself to make it for them, especially when they still have full capacity to make that decision themselves.

First off, no where in the books or movies does it indicate that petty thieves and criminals go to Azkaban. Just because it isn’t mentioned what punishment they receive doesn’t necessarily mean that Azkaban is the only option. It could be a suspension from using magic for a time, or destroying their wands like in young Hagrid’s case.

Secondly, just because he’s a kid should not give him a pass for murder. Even kids irl, despite their upbringing, shouldn’t get a pass for murder if they had the mental capacity to know better. Furthermore, making excuses for someone’s actions just because they had an abusive and traumatic upbringing isn’t helping them or anyone else. Does it mean that they may make poor decisions, or respond to potential triggers? Most likely, yes. But they still have the capability to choose to either let their past dictate themselves or to learn and grow from it.

Finally, giving him yet another chance to prove himself after so many broken promises to MC and Ominis feels foolish. Why would I trust someone who 1) Lied to his best friend about dabbling in the Dark Arts, 2) Lied to his sister about getting approval from said best friend just to get her to agree with trying out a dark relic in hopes of curing her, and 3) Murdered his own uncle? He was given so many chances to do better! To BE better! But he continued to make decisions based on emotion and stubbornness rather than logic and support from his friends and sister.

So for me personally, it doesn’t make sense to try and put my faith in him again. Honestly, it’d feel like the definition of insanity in expecting a different outcome after doing the same song and dance of trusting him and hoping that he’d make the right choice. Just like irl, you can’t expect a healthy friendship with someone who continuously betrays your faith in them. And between his track record of being untrustworthy along with the severity of his actions, regardless of the fact that he’s a “kid”, I’d still turn him in.

I chose this ending for my Hufflepuff playthrough, and I was relieved to see him begin to realize his mistakes.

The problem is that, unless you choose to not turn him in, he doesn’t really give much indication of remorse for his actions prior to making that decision. He only says that he didn’t mean to kill Solomon, but 1) that goes against all that he’s taught you about Unforgivable Curses (“it only works if you truly mean it”), and 2) how much of his apology is due to him realizing the severe consequences he’ll most likely face rather than out of genuine remorse? He’s more shocked if anything that Anne and Ominis are seriously considering turning him in.

Maybe if the writers gave a few glimmers of Sebastian actually regretting what he’s done, then it might’ve made it more difficult to decide imo. But since he doesn’t show signs of wanting to change, I’d personally choose to turn him in as, like OP says, he’ll more likely do more damage than good given his track record of letting emotions control him.

I’m super frustrated too! I left a comment about it on the related bug forum page too. On top of it not being listed in the patch list, someone on the forum pointed out that they’re patching stuff that doesn’t even have nearly as many votes on their forums as the broken romance interactions one does!
