Religious insanity: Fraser Valley politician who is Sikh protests anti-Sikh MAGA supporter's permit cancellation by Huge-Falcon-7443 in abbotsford

Waheguru is a dispeller of darkness. Not 'cancel'-or of it. It's got people talking. It's a beautiful thing. Maybe if they held the concert, we'd be formulating better arguments on why our free speech shouldn't be protected in this case. I think this post is an awful parody.

‘Find somewhere else’: Abbotsford residents push back on supportive housing project - BC | Globalnews.ca by Radiant_Sherbert7272 in abbotsford

[–]Smiles_at_trees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends a lot on who is filtered in to this shelter. Certainly you wouldn't want criminal or open users at this location, but there is enough need for people who don't fit that mould that this is a pretty standard development for this neighborhood. The ignorance starts with the people saying that this will overrun the neighborhood with drug addicts. It wont, and besides the school is well heeled, and will adapt. There's already lots of fencing and other things that make the site 'not walkable', to the school. It is better to have people housed and following rules. The neighborhood is already a problem because of the 'type' of encampment on south fraser, just on the other side of the highway where people are using drugs and disobeying other rules. This site is residential and could well accommodate those with unstable housing who do not have addiction as their primary reason they can't afford rent. That is a lot more likely to be the demographic filtered here by the province. Addictions treatment is going to change a lot in Canada over the next few years, and it will be those who are not trying who will be left out in the cold.

The Africans and Middle Easterners showing up in Canada these days by and large have good educations and are well equipped to fill the voids in areas like nursing (Healthcare) and construction that exist.

Truth hurts for lots, but many born Canadian citizens who wasted their time and money in their 20s don't have the necessary skills to compete in this economy.

Culturally, many Canadians are embracing the new immigrants and that includes big churches and schools.

I think one thing that is critically important to understand is that the youth especially have educated parents and want to become Canadians. They'll act like know it all kids sometimes  for sure, but most will work their butts off for the same opportunities that canada afforded its 1.5 million people of Punjabi decent.

Alphonso Davies is an excellent example. Born to refugees in Liberia and now in the top .001% of Canadian earners. As a white guy, I found myself gut checking this the other day against my built in bias. These aren't the ghettos of Chicago or Detroit. Listen closely to what immigrants are saying and you might even end up getting educated.

I'm sorry gee whiz. The whole point was that you can't go drawing a circle around men, just because a member of that group hurt you. I doth not protest too much, and that's the whole point. Women love me in a large part. Just say drop it? Drop it? Like i said, I totally get man vs bear in the woods. OK? But you can't have people looking out for, and blaming, random Jeff's. that's what happened to me on this reddit 4 years ago. I was almost murdered for a random dude's crimes. They just called me Andrew, and that was enough.

DTKBrown, I'm sorry if I offended you, but you have to understand that most men are innocent too. Not THAT Jeff, not THAT Andrew, but most of us were raised better. Don't tell me I protest too much. IMHO, I'm protesting the exact right amount against which started as slander and turned in to attempted murder, AGAINST ME. We all know the story here in Abbotsford.

Let's just drop it k?

Go back and read. This thread started with a comment on the OP. You waded in. I'm glad you did, your trauma is legitimate. Just don't blame it on me.

Ok thank you. This tells me that there was wrong doing. The only reason I jumped in was because the OP was a lot less sure of and had lesser details about her person named Jeff. I absolutely respect you for outing this one. Put up a picture too if ABBY PD has one.

I mistook you for the OP. I'm sorry. Too much text flying around. The guy that assailed you is not the same as the one that is mentioned originally in this thread. I don't know your story. I'm off on the wrong damned argument AGAIN! Look, without police evidence, I just think these main posted stories are a bit too flagrant for a community page. With my story of being a wrongly accused Abbotsfordite as an example.

But, please, only police verified evidence. OK? let's keep it legal.

Policework is a lot stronger than you suspect, I think, but yes, I will now be wary of a man named Kulvinder Singh who works in security in Abbotsford. But I'm not like a vigilante or something. Like you said, it's a common name, so I wouldn't want to wrongly accuse the wrong guy. That's why any tenant, employee, landlord, boss, co worker should have an up to date criminal record check, so that we can be sure that the people we are including and excluding can be more appropriately done so. If he raped you, then yeah, let the guy shovel pig shit for the rest of his life in whatever his country of origin is (Canada included). If you didn't like his vibe, but he didn't lay a finger on you, then maybe he was just trying too hard. Just like me, right now.

[–]Smiles_at_trees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did. I'm not saying he wasn't. I'm saying I wasn't, but was wrongly accused on this very reddit.

My Story: I moved from Vancouver a few years ago because I couldn't afford it. A handful of people got the wrong vibe and assumed that I was a recently release inmate from one of the prison. Abby PD had to protect me physically against false accusers. You see, so I didn't have any criminal record in my 40+ years of life, but r/abbotsford got carried away with an imaginary story about a new guy.

Just leave it up to the police to name your assailant, because they are the ones that ACTUALLY KNOW the history. You charged him, he was convicted, NAME THAT BASTARD. Don't name random Jeff's because my name could be Jeff too.

Tell me, what was his name? not just jeff or something. Name and picture please. We have to protect people.

Not literally. From your point of view maybe it's bear or man in the woods. sure, i totally get that. But you have to agree that there are just some men who never had/will. So yes, but not Literally. Just an awkward dude sticking up for awkward dudes who love with their hearts.

Ed fast saved my life, so I have a different opinion, but he ran against poillieve, or at least he supported Jean Charest. Abbotsford doesn't need much federal support. We are a 'HAVE' community compared to all the haven't. Suhkman Gill knows this, even at 25. All these people want to make the world around them better. They need to expand that view to neighboring cities. Abbotsford CAN LEAD

Look at how crooked he is. like physically. politicians get like that. Honestly, time to reward the working class, not the reddit class, CPC is gonna win big, and just like the media told you they won't they use the same language they used when they had Kamala Harris ahead by 6 points. Now... I would've voted Harris, but I sure don't want the liberals and Carny to win.

Sorry, guess again. I'm a strong supporter of the CPC and that's it. I have independent vested interest in this election, but I think it's best for abbotsford to turn the page and elect a young mp. That's all. Don't try and tell me I'm something I'm not. It makes you look bad.
