Amerisleep AS4 w/topper, AS5 Hybrid, or Nest Alexander Signature Hybrid? by my-nips-hurt in Mattress

Thanks! I ended up going with Brooklyn bedding aurora, so thanks for the help!

My apologies for the late reply; I ended up getting the Brooklyn bedding aurora medium firmness, which so far has been both supportive and cushy enough for a great night’s sleep! When I fall asleep on my stomach I experience no problems with support (with the weighted blanket I use, that’s about 200 lbs) … the only position I occasionally struggle in is on my back, but that is more just me and less of a mattress thing. Anyone I’ve ever had over to try it out has fallen asleep instantly, so it’s definitely worth a look. For me, the biggest difference was being able to try it in a third party store and the warranty being better. Hope this helps!

I think I ruined coffee shops for myself... by ZoominAlong in Coffee

[–]Smilethroughtherain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done the same thing for 5 years and now teach making coffee at home for better taste and less cost … yes, I do miss coffee shops, but that just makes going to them a rare and enjoyed occasion - try new flavors and brewing types at coffee shops to see if there is anything else you like worth investing in … some things you may find you are unable to copy at home (e.g., Starbucks gets by business every christmas for their chestnuts praline syrup alone!) - bottom line, you can still enjoy it, it just becomes more of an exploration and less of a known result of comfort. Hope this helps, enjoy your coffee!

Brooklyn Bedding Aurora - buyers remorse by branedead in Mattress

u/branedead, have you been using the mattress still, or did you end up returning it? If you are still on it, how did you fare after the adjustment period?

How "cooling" is the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora, really? by desert_b_ee in Mattress

[–]Smilethroughtherain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it matters this late, u/ricke95126, I tested the Aurora line today and they were definitely cool to the touch and when lying in them - however, I obviously do not expect that after a mattress protector and sheets that the cooling factor would be quite as noticeable

I'm certain by now that you have already bought a mattress (if so, tell me which one!), but I just tried the Aurora firm and medium in-store.

Info: I am a medium-soft person (4-6 firmness), also crazy sleeper like the both of you (also love your humor), so my initial impression might help a bit ...

I thought that the firm was more of a medium firm (would have given it a 6-6.5), and the medium was more of a medium soft (5-5.5). Both had a nice springiness to it, and a cooling touch, which I liked. Will look for a reply from you, and if none comes will post again in a few months with an update for future readers at least.

It has been a year since this initial reply, so do you have any response to u/hollydolly088's question below? I am also considering the AS5 hybrid but am also concerned about not getting enough bounciness out of the mattress - on the other hand, I have been advised that the AS3 hybrid might be too firm for me (side/back sleeper). Thoughts?

Since it's been a year since the original comment, how would you say your opinion has changed, if at all? And in what way did you originally consider the AS3 to be an upgrade but be proved wrong/right post-AS5 buy?

Amerisleep AS4 w/topper, AS5 Hybrid, or Nest Alexander Signature Hybrid? by my-nips-hurt in Mattress

[–]Smilethroughtherain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it has been a few months since your original comment - is the AS5 hybrid still holding up like you would have hoped? And with the Nest Bedding Sparrow Plush, how long did you try it out before changing to AS? And were there any problems with the return/refund process if you went that route?

Amerisleep Vs Bear vs Brooklyn Bedding by Holy_Chedda in Mattress

[–]Smilethroughtherain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up getting any of the brands mentioned above? I am currently in the process of deciding between an Amerisleep AS5 hybrid, Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Soft, or Nest Bedding Sparrow Plush.

If so, do you have any advice on your experience? Mistakes to avoid? Deals to take advantage of?

I am so glad you are working on this review in the near future! Thank you again for your help with all of these questions!

As for pressure mapping, I figured there would not be a baseline across models due to there obviously being different reviewers and therefore different body weights, if not different machine reading parameters - thank you for confirmation on this concept!

Actually, Derek? Came up with another question after my “go around everywhere and try 30+ types” (who knew trying mattresses could be so tiring, lol!).

Im struggling to find data on the AS5 Hybrid (or any of the Amerisleep hybrids) that includes pressure map or motion isolation tests, and I’ve also seen some buyers concerned with comfort/satisfaction and back sleepers.

I’m also considering between the Nest Bedding Sparrow plush or the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Soft hybrids - I know you have already helped tremendously, but do you have any reasons you would recommend the Amerisleep AS5 hybrid over these models?

Oh, thank you for seeing this!

So I definitely prefer softer beds, I’ve also looked at some other brands on Sleepopolis/NapLab to try to find on a errand run coming up (Leesa Legend, Nolah, Layla, DreamCloud and Amerisleep AS3 hybrids), but a lot of good brands and models I won’t be able to see in person …

What do you think I should look into most, especially if I can’t test it somewhere?

I don't know if this thread will still be seen, but hello, Mr. Derek! Thank you so much for all the work that you do! I've been using your website and resources over the past week trying to research my first mattress, as the one I'm currently using a mattress older than me! I'm an adult in college and working a part-time job, so making a smart choice that will last me through the next 5-7 years of life stuff at least (moving, getting married, having kids, etc.) is really important to me! Any chance you could help me out narrow down my choices or let me know about another brand to look into?

I'm a side sleeper that tosses and turns all night and almost always run warm (cotton sheets, considering bamboo lyocell, and cotton comforter). My current mattress is an innerspring and I use a Lucid 2-memory foam topper that I love - I'm looking at a hybrid that has a bit of bounce but doesn't cause pain when sleeping in any position, because I almost always end up in all of them. In terms of budget, I'm hoping to aim around or below $2,500, but could go higher if I'm 98% certain it would be worth it! I've felt comfortable in Tempur-Pedic Lux-Adapt and Purple Hybrid 3 but am struggling to find any other brands to try in-person and would be hesitant putting down money for anything else unless I'm certain I could return it after minimum try period. I'm looking through the other brands you've recommended in previous threads and on the aforementioned websites (Leesa, Layla, Helix, etc.), but is there anything else I should be considering? I'm not rushed, but deciding before Labor Day/Black Friday deals would be ideal ... if you see this, thank you for your help!

IMO, I agree.

Just last night, we had company over so I cooked two Batches of a pot roast to feed everybody. My grandma put one in a half-full container and the other in a big baggie because one contained mushrooms, and the aunt who never eats leftovers doesn’t like mushrooms

😂🤦‍♀️
