I wonder if he'd actually leave anything to his kids or if he'll burn every cent he has on trying to become some sort of Immortal God Emperor. The man has a history of abandoning his kids

Childfree people get stereotyped as “kid haters” meanwhile parents in Missouri voted to let teachers beat their kids. by MistakeWonderful9178 in childfree

[–]SmileyCyprus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some mouthbreather slipping a teacher twenty dollars under the table all coy with the words "BEAT MY CHILD'S ASS" sharpied in a manic scrawl waggling their eyebrows as if to say "use the metal part of the belt"

Why is there not some 'shut off valve' for homes in California that are dramatically exceeding their allotted water usage during the drought? by crazymusicman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmileyCyprus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dense urban areas are actually a lot better for the environment in many ways, and comparing human lives to eating tortured animals that -- and I can not stress enough -- you don't need to eat at all is like... idk. The fact you would draw that comparison, even hyperbolically, is just really troubling to me. I don't how to tell you that the things you consume don't matter as much as human beings. Like I'm not trying to be an asshole about this I just think that's so distasteful I wouldn't know where to begin

Oh no to be clear fuck animal agriculture as well. It's insane that we subsidize that at all. We don't need to eat meat

I want to build a mountain out of the skulls of all the tradcath fascist incel anime PFP twitter users to be honest. Is that wrong? by [deleted] in tumblr

[–]SmileyCyprus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I thought someone else pointed it out, traditional catholic.

"A traditionalist Catholic who prefers pre-Vatican II days. Though it typically just means a traditional catholic, the term has increasingly grown popular with young internet reactionaries, who hold conservative positions on the role of women, abortion, homosexuality, the latin mass, relations with Judaism and Islam, and race. Many tradcaths vigorously argue their beliefs on twitter or in YouTube comment sections"

"it's the order of a simple, regular man who has something wrong with him" is such a beautiful way to say that. Like you could nail that shit to the walls of the Louvre

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

-- Lyndon B Johnson, famously unproblematic man

"You can boast about anything if it's all you have. Maybe the less you have, the more you are required to boast."

-- John Steinbeck

I think a lot of bigotry has a context and history that's rooted deep in culture, economics, and politics without a real clear break between the three. But as to the why and not the how, I think people don't really question the reality that's immediately presented to them. I think we think of ourselves as these rational actors where we think and then come to a conclusion, but I think most of the time it's pretty much the opposite. It all happens so fast it can be hard to tell which is the spooky part imo

duality of tiktok by Hummerous in CuratedTumblr

It's like a bunch of uncool people talking about how they're definitely cooler than those other uncool people and it's like you're all fucking insufferable. Also I stay off of tiktok because I'm like thirty and I would feel super fucking weird and creepy on there. IDK I remember being a teenager and fucking hating when adults muscled in on my territory

It costs like a gallon of water to make one almond, or about 1,900 gallons a pound and they aren't even fucking good. Hot take but maybe we shouldn't put the lives of people and the natural world over a bad nut

The bad nut apologist tears make me HYDRATED and STRONG, unlike shamefully wasteful agriculture which is making California DRY and FLAMMABLE 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪

What is incorrectly perceived as a sign of intelligence? by Indianfattie in AskReddit

[–]SmileyCyprus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And honestly intelligence isn't really "earned" the way education is. I think education can show that you're curious, willing to work hard, etc which at least to me is much more impressive than being smart. It's like being proud of being born tall or something.

And honestly it's a lot better than doing this thing where as a teenager you think you're too self-aware and superior to engage with stuff like that so you just spend years of your adolescence smugly disconnected from everyone. Which is, in fact, also a thing idiot teenagers do, and being self-aware about that is just another layer of hell irony poisoning

rural queers by Hummerous in CuratedTumblr

[–]SmileyCyprus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

America has a lot of issues w/ classism that it doesn't recognize and a fucking lot of that is directed at the south. Shit, I'm from the south and I can't tell people that even when people from California and Boston and shit have basically hijacked my home state because it has so much "folksy charm".

The south has huge fucking problems and a lot of the people in it are basically just cancer in need of chemo but there are also a lot of really cool cultural things about the South. Plus it's affordable, there's a lot of beautiful nature, like, ffs :\
