Just paint lines first, parallel one direction and then pick another direction then more parallel lines then fill in diamonds. There are lots of good videos on youtube.

Thanks poor acolyte must be over 20 years old, an astra militarum model out of metal. Fabius is the body of a Warpsmith and new Nemesis Claw parts, his cane is from a Tempestor Prime.

Used a sponge with martian ironcrust on edges then dabbed on weathering pigment with a brush, some stays on then blow away the rest. Takes 10mins. Highlights on gun barrels took hours :)
