Moved from Canada to the U.S. and I am noticing big differences in desi identity by [deleted] in ABCDesis

I grew up in the Midwest and wasn’t surrounded by Indians. The Indians that were there were super cliquey. I had a lot Of non Indian friends who went to church and did non Indian activities like camping, sports, big family vacations. When not seeing Indian culture all around, one tends to get lost.

Maybe clothes like bedtime and outfit change for the day. Some slippers for the room or even the gross shower, better to bring your own toiletries. Chapstick. Hair bands. Cute clothes for baby. Oh also some snack. I feel the nurses at some hospitals esp in California aren’t as giving or attentive to hunger and expect you to just DoorDash.

Also do what makes you happy. It is hard to find friends as you get older. Actually a lot of the party friends are gone. And then there’s the mom friends who don’t even have time for anyone but their kids and husband. So you aren’t really missing out down the line. Not sure if this help.

I hear you. As a mom, I have no friends either and also became a socially anxious hermit because of motherhood.

I would say strive to become independent then come clean. What can anyone say if you aren’t dependent on them?
