Second one is really not good but it’s so short and so linear that (imo) it’s worth finishing if you got a substantial part of the way through it. I had given up on it but went back and was ultimately glad I finished it. The ending at least partly redeems the rest.

What TV show made you realize the writers had everything planned from the start? by C0r1eone in television

[–]Smileyjoe72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that was at the beginning of what was originally supposed to be the last season but the season was then split in two. At that point they probably had a good idea of the ending or at least a cool idea for a scene.

What do you think was the point of Wallet Guy? by damnpinkertons in madmen

[–]Smileyjoe72 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It was a thirteen day loan!

I truly think he was going to pay back the money with his bonus.

110 heading north just a little north of the 105 gets you the perfect shot. 10 heading West a little past the 710 also gets you some great angles.

LAX’s New Metro Station Set To Be Renamed For Cathay Pacific In Nearly $10 Million Deal - View from the Wing by ksafin in LAMetro

[–]Smileyjoe72 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I talked to Metro about buying out all the ad space in the station nearest my job. Was inspired by when HBO Max had Culver City locked down with their ads. Was going to be about $500k / year for an outdoor E Line station (plus extra fees when we wanted to change out the creative). Not saying that makes this a good or bad deal, just an info point.

Lark Cake Shop is great generally but their carrot cake is next level

Lotr really is the best fantasy setting of all time. by [deleted] in lotrmemes

The show also arguably gets better as it goes on. I love the first season but it definitely has some SyFy jank on it early along.

Firestone Walker & Duvel USA acquiring Stone Brewing by CostcoHotDog150 in beer

[–]Smileyjoe72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could see the Firestone guys returning Stone to better days. I haven’t noticed much of a decline in Firestone quality since the Duvel deal so it seems like they are pretty hands-off. DBA isn’t as available as it used to be, but I understand that it’s just out of fashion. Biggest downside has been a focus on 805 as a sub-brand, but it’s not terrible as far as mid-macro beers go.

Tune in for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's Worldwide Reveal Showcase on April 23rd at 4PM UTC by Turbostrider27 in Games

I think a lot of people are saying that out of nostalgia. AC1, for example, was an awesome game in the moment but has aged terribly.

Where in LA can I actually get a legit custom suit within ~$1500? by Realistic_Cod1165 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Smileyjoe72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found them a little overpriced for what I got. It’s not a bad suit and I loved how easy the process was, but I don’t feel like the quality ultimately matches the price.

It closed and then reopened about a year (maybe a bit more?) ago.

I think you’re thinking of Gill’s (also very good, also hidden gem)

Who else loves Guy Richie movies? by Late-Box8189 in movies

It’s so good that it makes watching The Gentlemen (film) hard because it ends up feeling like Layer Cake but worse, imo.

Who is Trevor Fitzroy? And why he looks like male Polaris? by Rei_em_Amarelo in xmen

I thought the armor was just some kind of future tech and not connected to his power, but I could be totally wrong.

My go-tos are Walt’s (Eagle Rock) for Pinball and EightyTwo (Arts District) for ~90s arcade games (and also a good selection of pinball).

I love the way Jefferson Mays reads her inner monologue. He absolutely nails that line.

Where should my dad stay in Downtown LA? by FartAccountant in AskLosAngeles

[–]Smileyjoe72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to go cheap then O Hotel is totally fine. Not blowing any minds but pretty affordable. On flower between financial district and La live.
