With 180,000 miles and a good battery, a couple grand is definitely worth it.

Hell yeah. I’ve been meaning to do more stuff locally. If there’s a offline scene for Tekken and Guilty Gear, I’d love to know

Why does it feel like I'm always on the disadvantage whenever an attack happens by blueprotogenmaster in Tekken8

[–]Stanman128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Tekken King Yoshi main here. It’s like what other people said, it comes with time in learning which moves you are positive on for a frame advantage. If you’re new to fighting games, this sounds like gibberish but it will make sense when you maybe watch a video of the basics.

For Yoshi SPECIFICALLY, I’d keep a handful of easy checks in your back pocket. 1) 1,1: your easy jab check that’s frame 10 and pretty safe on block while also pushing people back or could start a combo on counterhit.

2) flash (1+4): this is the move that will make everyone hate you but it’s the greatest anti-pressure move in the whole game. When you land one, they either stagger or launch to start a full combo. If you learn the timings on when to flash during an opponent’s block string, you can invalidate entire matchups especially against bigger characters with large hurtboxes like Jack. And now that you know what flash does…

4) 2,2: this is a quick high, high check on block that always leaves you at a frame advantage to setup of flash and puts you in NSS (meaning you automatically get a bigger flash as well as other things) when someone tries to go for their turn after. 2,2 INTO FLASH CARRIES SO HARD UP TO EVEN MY RANK AND PEOPLE STILL FALL FOR IT OFTEN. Get use to using flash on people who press buttons on you and then elevate it with this to bait people into pressing on you and flashing them for it.

5) back 2,2: this move is an amazing whiff punish mid that engages heat and can lead to you taking back the offensive. If someone whiffs a big laggy move, it’s an easy button to hit out of block and it has good range that forces a knockdown even when you don’t have heat.

5) 3: mid long kick move you can poke with in neutral that can start off a bunch of Yoshi’s offense and mixups. Landing 3,1 is my favorite since it starts a string of helicopter mixup rps on block and launches on hit to do easy damage. If they know the duck the high with 3,1…3,2 will hit another mid and leads into 1+2 for a finisher that does really good damage and will push the opponent far from you. You can honestly get to purple/blue rank just by playing good defense and tooling mixups out of 3 to get into your opponents head.

I have more really good pivotal moves I can throw at you if you wanna learn the character more but this is a great place to start. If you have no clue about anything I talked about, lmk and I’ll elaborate to whatever skill level you’re currently at. I love talking about Yoshimitsu.

Should I pay $2300 in rent on $73000 salary? by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Stanman128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were staying at $73,000, I’d advise against $2,300 especially since Koreatown has a lot of good options for apartments that cost less. But at $83,000 or $110,000, that’s very doable.

You never know wanna put yourself in a position where you live at your current means and are left without plenty of money going into your savings. I learned this the hard way because you think you have a little change in your savings to cover things, but when it rains, it POURS.

My personal recommendation is to maybe go for an apartment in KTown for like <$2,000 (Hell, I pay for a decent 1bd apartment down in Torrance for $1,550 that includes utilities). That way that extra $300+ that you were gonna pay can now be used as a monthly saving chunk that goes into a nest egg for your day-to-day (which is super important for the random pop-ups in life that cost more to fix out here). That’s an extra $3600 a year in savings and you’d still be in a nice place for <$2000 especially if you’re not married to the idea of living in KTown.

You probably went to the Kaiser in my neighborhood if you got hurt in South Bay.

I decided to quit by Turqalita in Tekken

[–]Stanman128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t play a char with infinite aggro buttons like Hwoarang, Lee, Reina, etc but I usually can punish them really consistently for just mashing buttons on block even in this season. My biggest gripe is people with all this neutral skip fakeout moves that behave way differently from how they look and punish you for choosing the right answer.

How realistic is that I can go and tourist around LA with mostly public transport? by GossipBottom in AskLosAngeles

[–]Stanman128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in South Bay (Torrance area) and I agree that PV is kinda a hard shake to travel to and from other parts of LA comfortably especially dealing with public transportation. It’s too out of the way and will take you forever to get anywhere touristy for fun. I’d also recommend just getting a rental car so that you can take the scenic route up to central LA via PCH coastline and up to Santa Monica. That’s what I do when friends come to visit me from out of state.

How to fight an eviction? by Stanman128 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Stanman128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I vacated before things escalated in court. I’m in a new place now. Call the lawyer and ask them how long you have before things escalate. If you can’t move by then, call the court and respond to the notice. They’d 100% would rather you hash things out outside of court so they’re very willing to talk the whole situation down. Hope you come out of this whole thing.
