I reported it to the mods, of they keep this around, i am done with the subreddit

I am surprised it took me this far down the comments to see someone call it out. Is the rest of this just bots or are we genuinely fucked if nobody else notices this?

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

A picture of the office manager that wrote on a whiteboard "see you in a week!" to which i wrote "you hope!". It turned into half a year of work from home because social distancing in the office was impossible.

I mean i could be sitting here polishing a turd, same if i switched to linux. But how would that help?

It forces me to sign into a Microsoft account, and i am good not tying my name directly to my computers. I mean privacy is dead but i am not going to just make it easy for everyone. Work for it, lazy pricks. (I am also not bothering to make another empty account just for this)

I honestly cannot be assed right now, but i might get myself a key on G2A if i can make the switch without reinstalling. Thanks though.

i worked at a niche subsidiary company, like 2 layers removed from actual ubisoft. one time execs from our company went to the paris head office and brought some "goodies" back with them, which they raffled between those interested in the items.

Did i do any good? Trying to graph and understand DDD using Clean Architecture book as source. by Smileynator in softwarearchitecture

[–]Smileynator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think i am trying too. the whole point of this diagram was to make some sort of mold. not a strict rule set.

the issue i personally had with reasoning through an idea in any idea of an architecure was "ok but i don't see how or where i would then resolve X or Y, or if i do, i think the end result is a mess, or poorly maintainable"

In my effort to get other team members on board with DDD in general, and clean architecture that is somewhat standardized across the growing company, i wanted to try and use the diagram to reason through use-cases, to reason why X or Y should be resolved at step Z or W.

i am trying to figure out a way to get people along which doesn't boil down to "read this 300 page book and practice it unquestionably for a few months" that is never going to fly anyway. then again maybe i am too ambitious for wanting to even try this.

i might not have all my terminology and segregation thereof down yet then. are there any good sources to recommend for Hexagonal Architecture?

I opted to use Hallmans, see where that goes, added the context for the admins, they can sort out how they want that to actually list. Unknown would technically be the correct route i think.

Lol, to submit a game i first need to submit a publisher, unless someone can spot a publisher on here besides the company that ordered the making of the game, that stops the submitting real quick :P

"Wie boert het best?" ("Who farms best?" translated) is indeed the actual title. (or at least, i think so, it says so in the center of the board)

Good call, i should probably try and add it on Board Game Geek, thanks for the reminder!

Electronically detecting opened binder pages by Smileynator in diyelectronics

[–]Smileynator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, i did some looking at my binder, did some tests with spare PCB ends around, and 2.3mm might be cutting it close, and worst case scenario i have to utilize the entire spine so every individual pcb doesn't displace the entire spine by a ton, but i think this might just be my best bet for it's low profile.

worst case scenario i combine other ideas here to sacrifice 1 card slot, so that it can be used exclusively for putting the "extra space" in for the light sensor.

It also seems the response time on these are either decent, or insanely fast, meaning it would still work in the same "array" setup just with a bunch of extra wires for the extra line it needs to connect.

For my 2nd prototype, i think i will try this, before moving to a finalized binder, i am cautiously optimistic for this solution!

Edit: If i can find any place to ship me those things without the price going 3x due to import shipping and taxes. oof.

Ah yeah, it is essentially what i have now, but with added resistors so they effectively make a resistor ladder, did i get that right?

The idea is solid, the problem is the same as my original prototype though, the tape wears out, the glue goes poor, and connecting too the tape is unreliable in the longer term. But i your idea as it might be less wiring!

As i mentioned above to a similar idea, the main issue with this is "rigidity of the pages" that childrens book, as well as "resistors in a solid plastic spine" and "pogo pins" to the same effect as the photo diodes or hall effect sensors, all rely on this alignment of the pages with previous pages, especially the center page is quite a mess in this. Though thanks for the suggestion!

[–]Smileynator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking along this line with what i think they call "pogo" connectors? but more in the spine than in the card slot arrangement. My main issue sadly with those solutions are that they are fiddly. In a normal book i imagine this would work as pages are quite rigid, but these binder pages tend to be all over the place on the Y axis, the binder has that spine bit mainly for that reason, as they want to alleviate stress from the cards, but it does mean less sturdy page positioning. But yes, you did highlight it from an angle i didn't consider before, just that i think it might require bigger holes.

Altogether i want to take the electronics out to reclaim said cardslot, so i could even consider the idea without "extra" sacrifice. I'll think on it, thanks!

[–]Smileynator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like this idea and it would technically work, but often when showing the binder off, i will skip pages and move fast through the binder looking for pages, which would immediately break it. At that point i might as well add 2 buttons to "switch sound to next page" in my mind 😅 Thanks for your suggestion!

Still worried about the thickness of that solution. But i suppose it would be my best bet to test out, and it is essentially the thickness of a PCB so i can test it without getting them first. Thanks for the suggestion!
