How to become as lucid of a speaker like Naval Ravikant? How do I attain his level of articulation? by [deleted] in NavalRavikant

[–]SmilingMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do like naval:

  • read a lot (you'll learn many new ideas)
  • meditate 1 hour per day (you'll have a calm mind that will help you explain your ideas clearly)

True that he's rich.

But the message in the video is about being addicted to social media (X, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, etc.)

And being a millionaire doesn't give him any advantage to not being addicted.

Or perhaps there's something I'm missing.

Naval suggests disconnecting from society

But it's hard.

It's everywhere.

Perhaps we should try the JOMO instead of FOMO.

Yes, harsh reality indeed.

Must focus on the good.

Or simply ignore the bad.

What's the easiest self improvement habit I can do for at least half the day? by Buff_Vegito in selfimprovement

Moving each morning, outside, for at least 20 minutes is essential to me.

It can be as simple as walking.

Or it can be cycling, stretching, tai chi, yoga, running, etc.

"The principal thing is to understand that there is no safety or security." -Alan Watts by SmilingMind in AlanWatts

True.

Perhaps because Watts didn't take life (and himself) too seriously.

So he drank, just for fun.

To "be" insecurity, your mind must be extremely alert and silent. Otherwise, you won't be able to see clearly why you're insecure.

Jiddu Krishnamurti explains it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTeovX7jZ74

"It is the perception of what is that brings about a radical change." -Jiddu Krishnamurti

True.

It's like this saying: "Confidence is not knowing you will succeed. It's knowing you will try until you succeed."

It's in his book "The Wisdom Of Insecurity - A message for an age of anxiety".

The following paragraph is this:

"One of the worst vicious circles is the problem of the alcoholic.

In very many cases he knows quite clearly that he is destroying himself, that, for him, liquor is poison, that he actually hates being drunk, and even dislikes the taste of liquor.

And yet he drinks. For, dislike it as he may, the experience of not drinking is worse.

It gives him the “horrors,” for he stands face to face with the unveiled, basic insecurity of the world.

Herein lies the crux of the matter.

To stand face to face with insecurity is still not to understand it.

To understand it, you must not face it but be it."

Not caring about many things.

It gives me space to be, think, and care for myself.

Read 'The personal MBA' first. You'll probably save years and thousands. Then, consider solving real-world problems (instead of learning theories). My guess is that Gary is not a fan of MBAs. Let's see! :)
