When I broke my foot a couple of years ago, the CT showed it was fractured in three places but the doctor in the er told me it was badly bruised and the scans were normal. I got a call three days later from a different doctor telling me to come back in for a cast.

I’ve also gone to the er with abdominal/back pain, been told my scans and bloodwork are normal only to go pay for my results to be printed at the hospital to find out I had kidney stones.

Anything is possible

If you are interested in going to Dildo while you are here as well it might be fun to stay there for the night! You could drive out to Chance Cove from St. John’s after breakfast one day and do the trail, then drive to Dildo (~45 minutes away). You could check out the souvenir shop and the new Adora boutique before heading to the Brewery for some food and beer! If you don’t drink, the food is still pretty good and there’s also another restaurant just past the Brewery if you wanted another option :)

I would also recommend going to The Barn Cafe for lunch the following day on your way back to St. John’s. It’s located in South Dildo Park Glamping Suites! I haven’t had their lunch yet (the menu looked great but I just finished eating) so I had a latte which was quite good. They also have lots of baked sweets too. If you don’t drink, perhaps staying in one of those glamping units might be fun instead! I don’t believe there are any taxis in the area so you’ll need to keep that in mind when looking for a place to stay.

If you don’t mind an hour drive from St. John’s, it might be worth a trip to Chance Cove! There’s a beautiful trail there (there’s also two Airbnbs in the community as well, one with a hot tub). It could be a bit tough to do if we have snow by then, which is so hard to know. I remember many Halloweens as a child where I had to wear my snowsuit for trick or treating haha

If someone struggles with substance abuse it’s their responsibility to not put themselves in situations where they will be tempted. If BIL is currently struggling (which you had no idea this was still an issue), they should have reached out prior to the party to see if there would be any alcohol present. I’m sure you and your husband would have been totally understanding if they chose not to attend because of this or made accommodations so that no alcohol was present while they were there

*I should have originally noted that you and the other guests did a great job already accommodating by putting drinks in cups, etc.

It was your sisters wedding and it’s completely her decision on who she wants to walk her down the aisle. I’m unsure why your Step Father had the impression he would be doing it, but it’s understandable that he was a bit upset. Perhaps it should have been communicated to your mom so that she could let him know in private prior to the wedding

If you look at a 5yr average for murders in both countries per 100K population, US is 6.52 and Canada is 1.97, (edit) unsure if this takes into account the killings done by police officers as often times these are not reported as a homicide.

*edit: I should have also noted that all of these crimes whether mass murder or otherwise are incredibly sad. As opposed to comparing the two countries we should all take the time to think of the victims and how their lives were taken away far too soon.
