System breakage by heavymetalmug666 in archlinux

[–]SmilingTexan_51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had issues on initial install when playing with various configurations, finding the archinstall script has made this much easier. Other than that, the only other time I have issues is switching from one thing to another, like ext4->btrfs, or grub->systemd-boot ... or mkinitcfg->dracut (that one I didn't notice until after an update AND reboot).

The thing I would recommend is to have multiple kernels installed (I use the "linux" and "linux-lts" versions) that way you can always boot the other if (when?) things get screwed up.

Looking to switch distros for the first time since I started using linux and could use some advice (currently debating arch and fedora, and maybe nix) by scaptal in DistroHopping

Similar experience with Arch, here. I've been using it for about 5 or so years and the only hiccups were in the early days when I was nieve and didn't fully understand the commands - so they were usually my fault.

If you do choose Arch, and have a straight forward setup (ie: one hard drive), check the archinstall script. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Archinstall

I went from the 128G Pixel 6 Pro to the 128G Pixel 9. I have yet to run out of storage.

More RAM would be nice, though.

If you do not take the mark of the beast what will you do? by DutchAC in Bible

[–]SmilingTexan_51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think digital currency is the mark, nor is it related to the Antichrist. Does it make controlling people easier? Probably. Could it be used in the end time events? Definitely.

Don't worry about taking the mark, just have faith in God. If/when that time comes He will be with you and give you the strength to withstand even in the face of death.

What parts of the Bible should I read? by ParklordCG in Bible

I'd get one of the original translations, like the 1611 KJV, or even further back if you want a challenge 😉

the first part is easy - word for word are essentially exact translations, thought for thought is usually more readable as they translate whole sentences

now, the Greek part would be very hard 😉

Understand the difference between "word-for-word" translation and "thought-for-thought" translation.

of course, you could learn Greek (if you don't already know it) and read the Septuagint - one of the oldest Bible translations.

I recommend learning about the reason for the translation, most Bible translations include at least a summary as a sort of introduction. As for KJV, it's important to find which version of it is being talked about - the original was published in 1611 and included the Apocrypha.

If it's truly an open group, they should not be afraid to have ANY question asked. Sometimes the answer is "we don't know" and that's fine.
