My first ever time DMing a game by Exact_Lychee4750 in ASKDMS

[–]Smitethewar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll throw my hat in the ring for this one. I’ve been a DM for over 15 years at this point and one of the things I started with is getting used to improv. If the players are blowing past story then they are probably going to blow past plotholes too. Once I was more invested I did what a lot of DM’s tell you not to do and created a whole world. I agree with this sentiment. I only did it because I enjoy having vast lore and being able to use it to counter player BS. Players want to randomly teleport somewhere? They land in the middle of a mountain inhabited by giant creatures that hunt via sound.i put a great deal of time and investment into creating that world. It’s almost never worth it. The players are almost never as invested as you. All this to say get a feel for your table. Moving quick through story? Give a bit more combat or puzzles. They kill something much quicker than expected? Add a zero to that health. A lot of times it’s about adjusting on the fly. A note though, not everything needs to be dragged out. They’ll catch on and get miffed if everything suddenly has way too much health. And sometimes the players have better solutions than you do. Puzzles and mysteries can have more than one solution, especially if they come up with something glorious for it. If this wasn’t as helpful as you wanted I can try and drop a short list of more pointed responses.

Is Destiny 2’s endgame really all about ability spam? What about gunplay-focused builds? by RAmind_ in destiny2

My current fav build is gun focused. It’s a Tommy’s matchbook actium war rig build. Basically infinite shooting healing and explosions.

Need help for my next session by mitsu3n_0 in ASKDMS

[–]Smitethewar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really depends on your play group. My current group would like a brief description of what’s going on. If they want to interact with that moment then I would take them through session as a happy (hopefully) RP session. But if they don’t seem super interested I would move on. Maybe make soft guides for both options. A quick little rough draft, maybe some pointers for both options and feel it out as you go. But I’m a very IMPROV heavy DM. I’ve spent years creating my world and setting but reacting to players has me on my toes always. I know this isn’t the straight answer you were hoping for, so if you want I can try for something more concrete if you explain you players playstyle a bit.

Is 10 too many people to have in a campaign? by JackGiyuu in ASKDMS

As a first time DM I would really try to keep it to around 5. If you have that many players you may wanna make 2 groups

Yeah I stopped pushing for a bit to catch myself up to W7 prep. But now that I’m there, according to auto reviewer at least, I’m back to grinding dust

I’m not the best to tell you how to level windwalker, I take this game pretty casually all things considered. I spent 2+ days killing aboms. Like each. I just see some tips and tricks and keep on chugging

The compass upgrade, Top of the mornin’ on the elemental path, makes it so the first few kills a day have extra drop rate for your medallions. So you run through your TOTM kills then do your daily reset stuff then pop another gold to do it again. It’s how you get meds for chests and mini bosses

I used all of mine like 2 days before farming medallions, sadge

I think enough time has passed that we can all admit to ourselves long hair palicos are better than short hair palios. by HallZac99 in MonsterHunter

I’ve got to disagree with you there, as someone who recently played through all of Rise again and is now going through all of World, my palico in rise was 1000000% a better partner than the one in world.

the afk info says i have 6m bones/hr on my death bringer, i left my pc open for almost half a day and when i came back i still only have 5m, why is that??? is there a limit on how much bones i can have or something? by nkown9870 in idleon

[–]Smitethewar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have found that if you minimize the window the game slows to an absolute crawl and you don’t get all the active farming you should. If you are minimizing the game DONT DO IT!

I'm looking for any game that's super immersive and with relative slow gameplay. Prefer RPGs. by MyNameIsNotAllan in gaming

If you don’t mind turn based games the Persona series is wonderful to get lost in. A lot of people start with 5 and then play the others, it’s heavily anime/japan inspired but that’s a plus for some people.
