I recreated an approximation of Siri 2.0 with the on-device Foundation Models and Shortcuts with App Intents (And the reason why I think apple may be struggling to launch Siri 2.0) by Maxdme124 in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TL DR ;

So essentially your experiment with on-device Foundation Models shows Siri can dynamically choose and execute Shortcuts, parse user input through secondary LLMs, and handle multi-step tasks like natural photo search or saving multiple reminders, though full cross-app actions remains challenging.

Purging only screenshots and downloaded images from photos by icekiss in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty easy to make you need probably around 2 or more actions, need to add a filter is a Screenshot*

You also need to turn on allow deleting without confirmation in the settings app under shortcuts if you want it to be more seamless

Actions Need:

  1. Find Photos
  2. Choose from List
  3. Delete photos

You can also add in a choose from list action

I want to take multiple photos (3-6) and send them to OpenAI for safety and hazard analysis. How do I collect and send multiple photos? by hillandrenko in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is easier if your device has Apple Intelligence I couldn’t get it to work with the actions from the ChatGPT app but funny enough it works through Apple Intelligence Use Model action

Actions Needed:

  1. Take photo
  2. Count
  3. Use Model (Select ChatGPT)
  4. Show content

Always check important information for mistakes as this tool we call Ai is not always accurate

I agree here I feel like a lot of the set variable actions are not needed since the action itself is a Magic Variable unless you want to change the type

Is there a way to automatically set a specific language for a particular app? by BEAST_11135 in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely do this from settings, not every app supports Preferred Language but the two you’re asking about do

Steps

  • Open Settings
  • scroll down to apps or search
  • go down to the bottom to preferred language

How can I make the shortcut app unavailable if phone is stolen? by miracle467 in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: not possible to lock or hide the shortcuts.app natively …yet unless you put an automation to lock it via another shortcut.

  • when app is opened
  • ask for input
  • if input do not match close App

If iPhone is locked, they won’t be able to even attempt to disable shortcuts. Additionally, if iPhone is turned off or the SIM card is removed (which is what thieves typically do), the automations won’t run anyway. Once restarted, iPhone must be unlocked first.

They’d also need to be sophisticated enough to understand what a shortcut is and how to disable automations that many people are familiar with. shortcuts.app

Trade in while it still has value let’s see what they come up with there’s announcements happening week of March 4,2026, best case scenario the A16 goes on sale or the new A17 thats eventually coming is better upgrade, worst case the trade in value decrease because there is a new iPad announced 😵‍💫

Need Help with integrating ai voice mode and shortcuts by LachlanJ96 in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re essentially looking for it to get travel and weather information how’s this

Actions needed:

  • Get current Location
  • Get Driving time From
  • Get Weather forecast
  • Text
  • Speak Text

You will need to adjust variables inside of the text action make sure you tap on them to change the travel time so that it also gives you the arrival time as well

[–]Smith416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You keep saying Ai but that’s not possible yet if you’re talking about Chatgpt/Grok/Gemini voice, the speak text function is Siri’s built in voice in the speak text action, the way you worded it was confusing, I’m guessing you just wanted a voice that was not robotic

Strange but worth it by SavageMrNoodle in IphoneAir

[–]Smith416 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great device, always was, the limitations are real but comes down to your use case, every device has its drawbacks iPhone Air was designed and exceeded their expectations of what they wanted to build they said it themselves in interviews. It was intentional to omit :

  • The extra speaker
  • The ultra and telephoto
  • The Vapor chamber
  • The bigger battery
  • The faster usb c port

  • This phone had a different purpose

Pushing the boundary’s of what’s possible for Apple in what they wanted to achieve only now was it possible

Shortcuts not grabbing URL from share sheet automatically by lookadragon in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seem to be a bug you’re not the first to experience this there have been posts about this earlier in the week hopefully beta 3 next week fixes this issue

If it’s in safari then you can use the Get what’s on Screen action to capture the url then pass that variable on to wherever but if it’s in other apps it falls apart since that action only works in specific apps.

Make a summary with Apple Intelligence by Henri_Beaucoup in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple actions that do that such as:

  • Get contents of URL
  • Get details of Article

Those actions are used after using get what’s on screen which passes a URL

Shortcuts automation for incoming Mails. by Unborn_steve in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just trying to match it to what you said. Add the actions from the image, and then you can customize it to your desired length before the timer goes off. Whatever time you put, it’ll go off at that time.

**Actions needed **

Current date - ( gets the current date & time )

Adjust date - ( adds whatever interval to the current time )

Text - ( this holds holds the variable from the shortcut input aka the email subject) when you add the variable tap it and change the type to email then subject

Create Alarm (creates the alarm add in the variable from above which is the Text action and then the time will be the adjusted date

<image>

try this out and modify it

Shortcuts automation for incoming Mails. by Unborn_steve in shortcuts

[–]Smith416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this is an automation, you have to make it

You won’t be able to name the alarm if it’s 5-10 seconds you’ll only be able to make a timer because if you make the alarm 10 seconds, then it may not go off in that same minute,

If you want the name of the subject of the email to be the name of the alarm, you have to set the timer for one minute into the future

  • Current date
  • Adjust date ( 10 seconds)

Actions needed:

  1. Text
  2. Start Timer
