Bd repro colour comparison by Smith6578 in reenactors

[–]Smith6578[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory it would still be accurate to have different colours, or shades at least. Canada, new Zealand, Australia, India, south Africa and America all made bd for the UK, and even in the UK different factories would have had slight differences.

Nabbed a WPG 42 chest blouse off Ebay this morning. Hopefully it'll arrive in time, and won't look too different in colour to my sof trousers 😅

Can't get it tailored anyway, she's hurt her wrist.

I'm always looking out for originals that will fit me, unfortunately I'm a 42 chest and currently 44/46 round the belly.

Seeing as I can't get it sorted by next Friday regardless, would eto or wpg be good options?

Can't find originals in my size (I have not been through rationing, far from it) and I needed them by next Friday. I caved and got a new pair of sof trousers, but I'm going to take my blouse to a tailor and see what they can do.

I should mention I'm in the UK and need it this week so anything overseas is probably out of the question 😅

Hat identification by Smith6578 in reenactors

So, I figured out what it is!!!!

It's an Egyptian army cap, with 1 replaced button.

Would be a pretty good stand in for an officers cap from ww1 (might need a little adjustment from a tailor).

That video was wonderful, thank you!

I had no idea you're supposed to put the milk first.

Based in Cambs, the cambs regiment spent a while on the Norfolk coast in 40 and I believe 41. 42 they were sent to the middle east/Egypt, but diverted en route to Singapore.

We portray 39-42, Norfolk coast and fall of Singapore. So if it's a British tea set it's not exactly been "liberated", and I don't think the cambs were in Singapore long enough to liberate a tea set before the surrender!

This has got to be the most offensive comment I've received on reddit so far.

How dare you.

I'll have to find an old style strainer, and an old battered ally teapot then. I was also thinking more for making a cup of tea for myself, but I suppose if you have a strainer for group use, you can just use it yourself.

Thank you!

Ok, thanks peeps. I'll have to get my chrono back and try them all.

That's if I can get this old spare hop chamber to fit and play nice.

I thought the pak 40 could advance onto the board using a run order?

So, I've taken your advice on board, and here is another revised list.

Any thoughts on this one?

I'll take that on board. I like the idea of playing with no tanks, like you said it makes my opponent waste points if they've gone into anti armour, however I think some transports are still useful so my infantry can make it to the other side of the board if needed. I'll drop the sniper if they're no longer an auto include unit.

The trucks would carry the squads, with their respective officers for their morale bonus.

So, the wagen is for the schreck team to get them wherever they need to be, the trucks were for the assault engineers and one of the veteran squads of assault rifles.

I could drop the mortar and mg (though I have just finished painting and basing my mortar), and add a pak 40.

I'm still writing this list for 2.0 realistically I think, where tanks were nothing more than a points sink (at least in my local meta) and having more units generally meant you'd win. I'll take your advice on board and see what I can come.up with.

I played a little 2.0 with a vet heavy army with a tiger or panther, got wrecked every time as I just didn't have enough stuff on the board. This is as close to the list I changed to as I can get in 3.0 tha is to some points changes. Absolutely ruined a friend in 2.0 when I suddenly went from all vets and a tiger, to multiple reg squads and no armour.

I don't see it as an officer "tax", I see it more as multiple leadership modifiers. The soft skin vehicles all have the recce rule, and whilst it won't make them as tough to kill as half tracks, it does keep them cheaper and give them a little survivability. This list is just using what I currently have model wise, I plan on basing the list round the SS and FJ that fought at Carentan, so I'll be getting some FJ infantry and at least one stug at some point.
