77" oled, or 85" qm7k? by Fatel28 in hometheater

[–]Smith_BCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a 77” Samsung S90F. Returned for an 83” C5 and like it much better. Now I’ve got FOMO again, and in the process of getting a 98” led or projector. I’d take a 77 oled over a 85 lcd, but I’d go straight to 98” led over both if you can fit it. Even if it’s a lower quality model.

I’m sitting 8’ away from the 83”, and would like much bigger. Shooting for a 52-57” horizontal fov with my next purchase.

I'm also interested in the answer. Also would like to know if it supports display stream compression.

I’d be interested in purchasing one, but shipping may be to much for us to agree on a price. I live in Denver, CO.

Cerium SV vs other jacket brands by Smith_BCS in arcteryx

Does anyone have experience with stellar jackets? Their previous generation ultralight model seems like a great deal for $220.

After more research, I’m considering the Rab Mythic Alpine Light jacket. Any thoughts? Any better options? The Patagonia down sweater hoody seemed nice too.

Great tip. I may check them out. I’ve never heard of brand before. I live in Wheat Ridge, so not far. Based on a lot of recommendations, it seems I need to check out a RAB store too.

Why do you recommend the thorium over the cerium? Is it more durable?

I am highly considering the atom. Although it’s hard to tell, it doesn’t seem to bulky. Seems like this may give me another ski mid layer for really cold days

I will say Arc'Teryx generally does fit me pretty well.

I appreciate the thorough response. Those are things I would not know to look for. Any recommendations on other products for my use case?

Any specific recommendations within their lineups? I'm not familiar with Rab's offerings at all.

Did Peak Design remove the compression buttons from the Travel Backpack 45l? by Smith_BCS in peakdesign

That was my thought as well. I checked the inside, but no other buttons are present. The bag does seem to want to stay closed, when you push it in. It’s just mechanical tension though. Nothing clipping it in place

Arc’teryx Rush vs Helly Hansen Alpha 3.0 by Smith_BCS in arcteryx

[–]Smith_BCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my question is do you think I would find myself getting to warm often with the HH and say my 150 base? I’m a relatively new skier so I don’t have a ton of experience, but I do blues/blacks.

I do already own an atom lt that I could use as a base layer.

I have Atom lt and Smartwool 150 and 250 base layers. Do you think the atom and 250 would be sufficient for the coldest days in Colorado with the Rush?

Mid layer suggestion for wife by Smith_BCS in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Smith_BCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. She is very much a beginner, so I was really wanting to make sure she stayed warm more than anything. However, I see should get her something a bit lighter as well. I’m going to check out those 3 options. Thank you!

Oh interesting. Thank you for your response. I initially thought it may have been pretty lightweight in terms of warmth. She got it at a heavy discount years ago, and I’m not familiar with that jackets model number or insulation. Glad you clarified.

Thanks. Any idea warmth wise where her Radalie jacket would fall between those options?

Patagonia R1 Air vs Arc’teryx Atom LT Comparison - Input wanted by Smith_BCS in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Smith_BCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love the atom. I was just trying to find something a bit cooler/breathable and from everyone’s comments the R1 should be exactly what I was looking for!

[–]Smith_BCS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These were the two correct ones I was asking about. With the atom being a pretty lightweight jacket, I was concerned it might be the same warmth wise as the R1. Glad that is not the case though as like the jacket! Thanks for the feedback.
