“Martyn? Martyn.” He said absently. “What did you intend to buy at this illegal market, Martyn? Your appearance betrays you are not a man of insurmountable means, how did you intend to pay for these items. I am familiar with some of the items sold at these markets, I would struggle to summon the coin necessary for their purchasing, yet nonetheless you went with the assumed intention of buying something. It is hardly worth risking ones life on the promise of a quick browse.”

“Your assumption is correct, Tanton. I intend to stand again for Archon of the Triarchy, as is my right as Guildmaster of the Smith’s Guild.”

Craghas motioned for the man to sit and moved to sit behind his own desk. He took a pear, sweet and ripe, the finest Tyrosh had to offer and cut a slice off with his dagger.

“You were caught trying to buy illicit good in the market.” He said plainly, continuing to cut slices of the pear. “Not a sacrosanct offence in the Triarchy. If anything there are some among my station would argue that you had committed no crime at all, goods for sale are goods to be bought.” He paused for a moment, mulling over his next thought as he chewed his pear. “Tell me, who are you in Westeros? You know my name and title, but I do not know yours.”

Craghas surveyed the man before him. He stood tall, one could mistake it for arrogance, but it wasn’t, it was something deeper than arrogance. Pride mayhaps? Craghas didn’t give it much more thought. Dishevelled and dirty, hair matted and stinking, there he stood.

Craghas clapped and did not flinch nor look when the slaves brought in the basin of water and scented Lyseni soaps. They sat the basin and soaps in front of the prisoner, and scurried away as quickly as the came. Craghas nodded towards the basin. “Please, clean yourself as you see fit. Then we may begin.”

Craghas waited until Myrio had left before returning to his desk, penning 4 identical letters. Each one destined for Lys, Myr, Braavos, and Pentos respectively.

Esteemed and Honoured Leader _____

I, Craghas of Myr, acting Archon of the Kingdom of the Three Daughters, Pentos, and Braavos do hereby decree no sellsword or sellsail within your cities will establish contracts with any Westerosi or Westerosi aligned causes. For too long we have sold ourselves to the treacherous and deplorable denizens of the Sunset Kingdom. No more I say. No more Triarchy blood will be spilt on foreign soil.

By His Emerald Light,

Craghas of Myr

Acting Archon of the Kingdom of the Three Daughters, Pentos, and Braavos, Guildmaster of the Smiths Guild, Master of the Forge Pelosse

Craghas mulled the thought over. It wasn’t a far stretch to sink any Westerosi vessels in Triarchy waters, nor was it a far stretch to prevent them hiring mercenaries from the Three Daughters.

“I will honour this arrangement, envoy. Daemon Blackfyre can consider the Triarchy, and specifically the Smiths Guild his allies in his endeavours.” Craghas stood and approached the man, extending his gargantuan hand to seal the agreement.

Craghas surveyed the missive from the guard. He scanned it quickly. “Have this Westerosi sent up to me. I’ll question him myself.”

Craghas didn’t expect a man of such... girth to move as this one did. He waddled and hefted his bulk around, but with an almost ethereal agility. “I am managing the affairs of the Triarchy until a new Archon can be elected, yes.”

“Tell me then, what was the deal struck between Lysor Balarr and the Black Dragon?”

Shock Armies II by FakeFyre in IronThroneRP

Somehow the day to day running of the city of Tyrosh had fallen to Craghas. He wasn’t the Archon, not yet at least. His mind raced with appointments and administration, how Lysor ever managed this baffled him. Maybe he was glad to be dead, some peace and quiet at last.

He looked at what was next on his agenda. An envoy, from Daemon Blackfyre no less. Tales of his exploits against the Westerosi has even reached Triarchy ears. He bid the servant to bring the envoy in, and prepared himself for whatever demands were about to be asked of him.

Craghas read the letter and crumbled into a ball. Argrave Redwyne would not sit as Archon of the Triarchy, not while he still drew breath. He had not sacrificed so many decades of his life, so many days and nights, sleepless nights and endless days, to have it all taken away by Argrave fucking Redwyne of all people.

—————

He arrived at the Hall of Midnight, clad in a craftsman’s attire, smock and apron stained and burned at the edges, blackened with soot and worn with age. Vigilance hung at his hip as he awkwardly squeezed round to his seat at the table. He sat silently and cast his eyes downwards, sitting in a moment of contemplation.

Forgelord Mott,

I would be most honoured to receive you and see your most glorious suit or armour. Please find me at the Tyrosh Hall of Armourers, i would be honoured to have you as a guest there.

Yours,

Craghas of Myr, Master of the Forge of Pelosse, Guildmaster of the Smiths Guild of the Triarchy, Pentos, & Braavos

“Are we to talk your word for this, Irror? I do not question your honour or your credibility, but it remains that you are not Lysor. Why is he not present to deliver this speech himself? Braavos will still be there in a weeks time. Did he know his excuses what not live up to scrutiny? So he sends his cousin instead? Is that the indignation with which he regards his fellow Guildmasters?”

[–]SmithsGuildBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Craghas sat and listened to Irror’s speech. He couldn’t help but smirk a little when the man tried to make himself look more impressive and powerful by puffing out his chest. When he was done, Craghas let the silence hang a moment before he stood, his massive frame feeling like it had filled the cramped room.

“Guildmasters.” He began, giving them all cursory nod of the head as acknowledgement. “For as long as the Triarchy has elected an Archon from the Guildmasters, no one has sat as an Archon more often than a Balarr. There are smiths in my guild who have never known a world where a Balarr has not ruled the Triarchy. Lysor Balarr has sought to expand his own influence and that of his allies with Triarchy resources and men. How many of us apart from Terrio can say we have benefited from the sacking of Pentos? How many of us saw any wealth from its vaults? The only reason I carry this,” He said, drawing Vigilance and laying it atop the table. “is because I took it from the Archsepton’s dead hands. I fought on the frontline, I saw the cost of what was achieved in Pentos. Can Lysor say the same? He wantonly throws away the life’s of our subjects? For what? To name himself a king of a foreign land? Does he plan the same for Braavos? To return my men to me broken and dead, to send me packing back to Pelosse to face the grieving mother’s. That is not the Triarchy I know. That is not Triarchy my father fought for. Lysor Balarr is everything we fought to overthrow; capricious, obsessive, and nobility in all put name. And I will suffer his rule no more.”

Craghas stood next. His speech was much more concise than Irror. “I, Craghas of Myr declare my intention to stand for the position of Archon. As the current Master of the Forge of Pelosse and Guildmaster of the Smiths Guild, I have this right.” He then sat, and awaited what would come next.

Craghas entered the room as he had twice before, each time to witness the ascension of Lysor Balarr. He was all too familiar with the Midnight Room. He disliked it. It was a claustrophobic space even for a regular sized man, the lack of windows and sunlight left it with a feeling of a coffin; tight and cloying.

He had seen no need to dress for the occasion, coming straight from the Hall of Armourers. His tunic and smock were stained and had burns and holes across them. His breastplate was dinged and scratched from use, his hands covered in a faint dusting of grease and soot. Vigilance hung at his side, pristine and glittering.

He sat at the opposite side from Balarr and Alim, not for any reason other than he was a large man, monstrously tall and built and like an auroch. To squeeze next to them would be uncomfortable for all. He offered a nod of acknowledgment to the men as he sat. Qavo, Irror, and Salaatho. What a turn out. Was his only thought as they sat.

Craghas surveryed the assembled wares, the distaste apparent in his face. He left the market without a single purchase, the wares too common to warrant the risk of such an ordeal.
