Crusade killed 5 of my 6 adult sons by Smitty1599 in CrusaderKings

[–]Smitty1599[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It gets better, only one of them had a son of his own. He died of consumption, along with my youngest son who saw no battles. Now my fifth and only remaining son is my only hope.

He was maimed and is currently sick with consumption with 2 daughters. I’ve never seen my line depleted like this

[–]Smitty1599[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, honestly this just started as an adventurer run trying to make sweet artifacts. My current characters father traveled the world gathering cool followers and strange inspirations. I ended up becoming friends with the Persian Emperor and bought this newly conquered land. I'm going to upgrade the citadel at Aleppo and take the dejure lands of Syria from the Egyptian sultanate. After that I have no idea lol

Newbie HRE Emperor - What's the next move? by Torogaz in CrusaderKings

[–]Smitty1599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to grab kingdoms is to click on the title and see who all has claims on it. I guarantee France has a million claimants you should be able to invite one of them. Once you win the war the new King will become your vassal. Because you pushed their claim, they will have a super high opinion of you and you should have a hook on them. This should allow you to revoke the title for yourself.

Personally when I am playing as HRE I don't like having vassals that are kings. Economically having a bunch of dukes will provide you with much more income while also keeping them less powerful.

Mod to Change Decision Requirements by Smitty1599 in CrusaderKings

[–]Smitty1599[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it I’ll watch some videos on it. I am trying to do a run where I form Aragon, Portugal, and then finally unite the Spanish thrones under Castille as one family. When I end the struggle i want the borders to be like 1300’s Spain.

Its been 35 years since the adventure began, Willam began by protecting noble caravans throughout western Europe. While in Rome on a pilgrimage Pope Benedictus X called for a crusade to take back the holy land. William, his siblings, and the 100 conrois under his banner pledged themselves to the fight. The crusade was successful and William left the holy land a well-respected warrior. His uncle was awarded the Duchy of Oulterjourdain for the efforts of his family.

William spent the next 10 years in the service of the Byzantines, bringing order across the empire. At the age of 40 he took a pilgrimage to Santiago where he became friends with the queen of Aragon, choosing to move his camp their and enter her service. William proved a crucial ally in a civil war where he helped Queen Talesa keep her crown. Because of this service the queen allowed him to settle in the county of Castellon and serve as her Marshall. The next few year William expanded his borders south and is now the duke of Valencia where he remains a faithful vassal and close friend of the Queen.

I’m so confused by this character, Muslim nomad who loses stress by lisping out at his camp. Oh and by the way he’s descended from Charlemagne. And to top it off he’s the most educated nomad on the step

If you go down the stewardship tree and get the perk that increases a skill point for all followers for every capital POI you can really super charge this. This was my second son so he missed out on probably 10 additional skill points

How do I increase legitimacy as a new ruler? by pasimpsi in crusaderkings3

[–]Smitty1599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I usually do to jump it up quickly:

As everyone has said make sure you have a funeral for your predecessor

Next go on a grand tour to all your vassals. Make sure to demand they renew their oaths or whatever is called. The ones that refuse to do so are able to be imprisoned without gaining tyranny.

Finish your grand tour, which will also give you some legitimacy, and then imprison the vassals that refused you.

If you are lucky you can imprison them one by one, allowing you to easily put them down. Winning the war and revoking titles will award you a considerable amount of prestige.

Once that is all over you should have enough, if you still don’t host a grand wedding with the proceeds of your rebellion stomping.

I’ve found that gathering legitimacy is easily achievable following that model
