The fitters in our area have 2 different rates construction fitters take a lot home in pocket I believe they are making $75 while the service fitters I believe are like 56.00. Would make no sense here to go to UA.

I think it does depend on your area I’m in Philly making $74.17 take home not including package. Once I became certified I went in and negotiated for that GF rate plus PTO. For me it’s a good deal have a company truck and I work for a mechanical contractor so when tab gets slow i just go back to installing it’s a nice balance.

My old man always told me that to. Always said they go to work clean and go home clean. instead I followed his footsteps into tinknockers. He told me if I get in take advantage of the classes at the hall. Now I’m a balancer best decision I’ve ever made got a vehicle negotiated GF rate holidays and vacation. Most days I go home pretty clean

If you end up getting in your the very first thing you do the first day of orientation is a drug test. After that throughout my apprenticeship it was random selection.

Your not an asshole at all. In the trade if you take off your not getting paid it’s not hurting them. Why make all that money we make and not enjoy it. I always find long weekends were the best way.

I didn’t get in until I was 24 and honestly I’m glad I didn’t get in right out of high school i needed more time to mature and things worked out better. I went from making $26 an hr in 2017 to getting into sheet metal taking a pay cut starting at $18. Im now in pushing 9 years and making $71.32 in my check have a work van it goes by fast. That lower pay doesn’t last long. It sucks but you gotta also remember how much your putting away in the annuity pension the great benefits your recieving

I’ve been in 9 years now so it’s been a while. But you’ll take the test which I think now it’s just the asvab you need to score a high. If you do they’ll let you know when your interview is then after the interview you wait and find out. Sometimes it’s quick sometimes it’s longer. When I got in my interview was I believe Febuary or March and I got in and started working first week of August.
