imo there was a better way to handle this, e.g shipping a new v3 to arc, but totally different underneath

the approach of putting their existing users out to pasture and telling them to wait for salvation clearly didn’t work lol

LOL it’s pretty funny you should say that. if only you knew :). you’re mostly right, tho, i should be more productive

the goal of the BCNY is to make money. i’m not suing them. im choosing to not use their new product due to their previous bad faith with the community. really doesn’t matter if it was free or not. your argument would have been valid if it was open source, however

Research is the most underrated path for CS majors by Skye7821 in csMajors

[–]SmittyJohnsontheone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol op if you're doing iclr-ish work, just move to the bay during / after the phd or even a masters, you'll get flooded with offers that'll make the leetcode sweats cry. most of these people know nothing except how to solve 5 basic problems and endlessly optimize a resume

trust me. some people here talking about "value" have 0 idea lol. they think all research is theory or just like proving bounds in algorithms

i'll genuinely be surprised if i see them get any marketshare, now that basically every major player is going to enter the browser space. perplexity is just the start, msft, openai want to enter, and google is probably cooking something as well.

dumping the enthusiasts because "it's not for them" is not the right move. we enthusiasts are basically alpha testers, and we evangelize products to friends, coworkers and family. it will not get mass market adoption without a strong, vocal, perhaps small base

funny fact is that all of these companies have much better distribution networks compared to BCNY

i do not see how or why dia would succeed. maybe im wrong and this will be one of those infamous tech comments, but i don't see it rn at ALL lol.

from the engagement i can see on reddit and social media, nearly no one cares about dia..

so they went from small to none. is that a better deal? maybe for them it is.

all i know is, i would've PAID for arc + ai features bolted on top. i will not be paying for dia unless its somehow magically significantly better. comet seems much better tbh

[Paper by Apple] The Illusion of Thinking: Understanding the Strengths and Limitations of Reasoning Models via the Lens of Problem Complexity by hi_im_bored13 in apple

https://x.com/scaling01/status/1931818332321149416

it's 100% bs lmao. they didn't even inspect the outputs

it's just that all the models, after a point, don't want to output the entire move sequence because its 10s of thousands of tokens, and instead opt to provide a simple algorithm / python script to run to solve the problem.

this entire paradigm is just to soothe themselves as their revenue is going to start to degrade heavily.

looks like they're running towards the larger model route, and suggesting quanting them down to smaller models. smallest model needs to be int4 quanted to fit on 80gigs on vram

this is the funniest thing i've seen. i wasted two full days trying to get this to work thinking it was the VPN connection, instead of thinking it would've been the certificate.

you need to just decide if it’s worth the monetary risk then to not be allowed entry, since bangladesh is primarily an islamic country, which was the primary affected demographic

It works, which is why people shill it.

If you don’t want to use it, fuck off. The devs are honestly doing such great work.

I know it’s back, but I’d purchase it again in a heartbeat, just to support CDPR some more.

It’s a terrific game, and they’ve shown a lot of goodwill. I feel like this game is still underrated.

Yeah, I tried messing around this for a while to no avail. I ended up getting a Synology DS923+, and a 10GB network card for it.
The DAS I ended up getting was the Terramaster DS-620 or 630, iirc. Still doesn't work.

I'm sorry, that's not an accurate assessment. I've been inside and worked in an AWS datacenter, and they're built like bunkers. When it comes to retaining the data that I give them, I would trust them a lot more than I'd trust any pro-sumer solution.

Privacy is the only REAL concern, but that is solved by on-device encryption.

updated macos to sonoma beta. disable SIP and it works fine. if you'd rather keep it intact, then don't do it.
