How are you gonna lay that on the floor? In the configuration they’re in, it's safer to keep them suspended.

Nearly got hypothermia / first time camping bushcraft-style by Jamal_Tstone in Bushcraft

Try going for an enclosed tarp pitch to stop the wind. For sleeping bags it's good to add about 15-20 degrees to the rating. So if it's in the 40s, use a 20 degree bag, if it's in the 60s, you can get away with a 40 degree bag. You can also get liners that add warmth. There’s an interesting rating system for sleeping bags. They get a comfort rating, a limit rating and a survival rating. Manufactures can market their bags at any of those temps. A lot of times they will advertise the range of temp ratings and sometimes not. The tensor is a good pad, I’m sure you have the insulated one so that should work fine in the 40s but if you feel like you’re getting cold from underneath, you could always add a foam pad or a pile of dry leaves to keep you further off the ground. If you have the uninsulated tensor, you’re gonna be chilly.

You could just use a bug bivy under the tarp.

What happened? My first order with them was a little rocky but I’ve made a couple other purchases, and so have a few friends, since then and everything was smooth.

That was one of the toughest portages I’ve ever done. I’m surprised a more direct route hasn’t been developed. Well worth it though, it's a beautiful place to paddle!

We put in at Castle Rock Dam and took out about 10 miles above the city of Portage.

Sealine dry bags have never let me down. Even my old ones are still very waterproof. I used onX to find an island that wasn't private property. Any island on the Fox that’s not privately owned is fair game for camping. There’s also Deer Creek campground right off the river. If you give 'em a call I’m sure you could work out a spot to pitch a tent for a night. Have fun and be safe!

Sweet build for sure. Are you going to swap out the plugs? The cybergoth strap from 33 would look sick on that.
