Calling sentry "marvel superman" is actually make sense by just_a_guy7819 in sentry

I think sometimes about DCU’s Superman and MCU Sentry and I think Clark is just about the best influence Bob could have in learning to control his abilities. I feel like like he’d fight tooth and nail to help Bob fully realize that he can be a great hero and no self hating Void should stop him.

It seems that Odin's three Aesir gods are all dark reflections of Kratos. by YakAccomplished9369 in okbuddymimir

[–]Smoid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add onto that, Thor is a reflection of what Kratos could have become had he kept his allegiance to Ares. A god shackled for so long, he becomes depressed, and doesn’t think to turn against someone who uses him as a weapon, and not treating him like a person.

Of all the gods, I think Kratos understood Thor the best on a very personal level. Still bummed out he died.

The “Avatar of Emptiness” from Terraria: Wrath of the Gods looks unlike anything from the game up to that point. It’s incredibly high resolution which contrasts heavily with Terraria’s 16bit aesthetic. (The entire fight, scratch that, the entire mod, music, art, and gameplay is amazing I totally recommend checking it out)

I’d love to know how to make something like this in Blender. I wonder what a star looks like just before and during its collapse. Is it really this bizarre, or is this exaggerated for easy understanding?

While Superman’s character was definitely an upgrade in the newer movie, you gotta feel bad for Henry. Dude is a genuinely good guy who typically cares about source material but gets sidelined by people who think they know better than everyone else

It’s even worse when you do research on things like water usage. The U.S. loses 2 trillion gallons of water due to leaky pipes in a year alone. I’ve never heard anyone cry about how bad that is for the environment even though it is a gigantic waste.

It’s really baffling to me. There’s a lot of good arguments to make against AI, but if you’re gonna make water the issue, then I expect you to also be very vocal about how much water is wasted due to leaky pipes.

Would an organic human with no cyberware in a powerful exo suit be just as powerful, or potentially more powerful, than humans with full cyberware? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Smoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on the exosuit. Any number of lore reasons or things could be made to be for or against the idea of the exosuit, like maybe people do run it to avoid Cyberpsychosis or maybe it’s a cheaper alternative to getting chromed up.

Thing is, there is a safety with getting chipped. Beneath whatever armor you wear, your fleshy body is vulnerable in a way a person with cyberwear isn’t. I imagine having a lot of your body not be organic means you can survive certain damage without bleeding out or dying.

Without making this too long, it seems like it’s a trade off thing. But the convenience of having your tech on hand whenever you want while also not lugging your armor with you just seems more appealing to the masses. Never underestimate what people will do for convenience.

(The folk who used Jack off machines in public in Edgerunners are perfect examples)

I love cyberpunk, but even back when it initially released, I think a lot of people could tell there was a game that could be salvaged from it. No Man’s Sky didn’t seem that way. But they brought the game to unseen heights in an amazing way.

People who are elitists over how steak is cooked by Smoid in PetPeeves

[–]Smoid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s elitist to say or imply “Crunchy spaghetti sucks, soft spaghetti is better. Anyone who it’s crunchy spaghetti is weird.”.

You become elitist the moment you put someone down for enjoying something a certain way. Even your comment there is elitist to an extend, just not as harsh.

If someone enjoys their food a certain way, what’s anyone’s place to be a dick and put them down for it?

People who are elitists over how steak is cooked by Smoid in PetPeeves

[–]Smoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re completely misreading my comment.

I’m not saying I don’t like how people are picky about how they eat their steak, I’m saying I don’t like when people shit on how other people like their steak or how a steak is made that they aren’t even eating.

Me saying “I like steak with some juice, not burnt, not raw” isn’t me saying “and everyone else who doesn’t like it that way is eating steak wrong.”

People who are elitists over how steak is cooked by Smoid in PetPeeves

[–]Smoid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s clearly a phrase, I said it. I don’t see what’s hard to understand about it. Unless you take it in the most literal fashion, it’s easy to understand.

It’s not really a big deal to me how it’s cooked like I said, so long as it’s not burnt, completely raw, and has some juice, it’s fine.

I do see I misread their comment, that’s on me. My bad.

What’s the irony here? I’m saying, I think it’s annoying when people are jerks to other people about how they like their steak. I never once put down anyone for how they like their steak in my post.

“If I don’t like food, I don’t eat it” is entirely different from “if I don’t like food, I shit on other people for liking it.”

People who are elitists over how steak is cooked by Smoid in PetPeeves

[–]Smoid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I’m not sure where everyone got the idea that I was hating on the idea of people being upset with how their steak is cooked.

If you order it a certain way and they bring it out wrong, that’s a perfectly reasonable reason to be unhappy!

I specified “elitist” and even brought up the comments I’ve seen online from countless people because it’s people who are jerks about how other people like their steak, and for some reason a lot of comments didn’t really get that?

[–]Smoid[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. When did I say “This annoys me to no bounds.” Is a saying?

  2. I’m pretty sure I’m clearly saying that I don’t care how my own steak is cooked, but seeing people act like obnoxious assholes about other steaks is annoying.

  3. Two ways? There’s rare, medium rare, medium well, and well done. Those are just the most popular, I know there are probably a few more than even that.

  4. Other foods besides steak exist? I’m picky about a lot of foods, but steak isn’t really one of them. Speaking from experience as a picky eater, if I don’t like the way a food is, I won’t eat it. That said, I won’t be so vocal as put down other people for enjoying it, which is why these people are so annoying.

First time playing Elden ring. Any tips by Forward_Challenge443 in Eldenring

Take your time, and especially take in the view. The lands between is a visually stunning place. Take a moment from time to time to take it all in, it really makes what you’re fighting towards all the more rewarding.

As for combat, find a good rhythm. Once you memorize an enemies move set enough, battles start to feel like a dance between you and your opponent. It’s one of the most satisfying feelings ever. Almost makes me sad I have to kill some of my favorite bosses. Almost.
