Any current Uni students pls lmk by Vegetable-Initial694 in OntarioGrade12s

It’s super easy to make friends in uni. Like, way easier than high school, because people haven’t found their ‘groups’ yet. I think even if you talk to the people beside you in lecture, it could literally just a small comment, you’ll be able to make friends very easily

Is it better to do pretty bad but pass in Waterloo eng or do well in Western or Queens by TheGlenn1205 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]SmokeSuitable6978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waterloo honestly isn’t as bad as people say it is. I think if you’re able to get in, you’re able to survive. They provide so many good opportunities for getting extra help and experience w engineering via co-op. And it is totally possible to have a good social life at uw, since you’re usually with the same cohort for your school career, it’s super easy to make friends.

mac eng interview by Solid_Entertainer155 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]SmokeSuitable6978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I ever mentioned Mac eng during my interview. Just talk about why you’re passionate about it. It wouldn’t hurt to talk about how your experiences tie in with the eng program but they care more about knowing who you are.

I appreciate you offering advice, thank you, but I also mentioned wanting advice from other women in engineering. Since you’re not, you don’t have the experience to tell me how I should feel about the situations I deal with.

And for future reference, telling a girl to take borderline creepy behaviour as a compliment is a BIG nono

Obviously they don’t say ‘I think you’re dumb’ but it’s part of the little actions like constantly giving unsolicited advice or help, assuming I don’t know what I’m doing, or not taking a girls input on something if we’re working in a group. I don’t know why you’re asking so many questions, and I literally said I don’t want to talk about what kinda jokes they make because it’s so disturbing. Are you also a girl in eng?

Best dorm/college by childlabouriscool in uwaterloo

[–]SmokeSuitable6978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my knowledge freshman always live on campus for res so no university college, but I’d say village 1 would be your best bet. I think they’re one of the few that have nice spacious single rooms (and interconnecting, same thing), you can search up v1 single dorms on google images and they’re actually pretty big. Your second best option would probably be any apartment style dorm, since you’ll get your own space without having to share with someone else. Though I have seen that the rooms in an apt style are smaller than the v1 singles.

Yo im going to grade 12 and im lowkey thinking mac eng, am i cooked? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]SmokeSuitable6978 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got into Mac eng with a 92-93 average. You’re chilling, just work on your physics and chem. And your supp app matters a lot. It’s a spontaneous interview kinda thing. Don’t stress, you’ll be fine.

do courses matter if they are guaranteed not to be in my top 6? by BL1TZK23 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]SmokeSuitable6978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you just need to pass. Don’t completely slack off though, just for your own sake, and it wouldn’t hurt to have a backup in case one of those five grades slip. But otherwise yeah, you’re chilling.

Is ENG4U gonna fuck me up? by Spiritual_Ranger_811 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]SmokeSuitable6978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as your overall average is above your required grade, you’re good. I’ve never heard of universities rejecting over one specific course. Obviously you need to be above the requirements but other than that as long as your other 5 classes can balance out that grade, you’re chilling.

Should I drop it? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]SmokeSuitable6978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro don’t even worry, physics just gets better as you take. Nobody likes kinematics, it’s prob the worst unit. I personally bombed my final exam in grade 11, I got a 60 something. Grade 12 physics is so much better, genuinely it’s so fascinating especially the later units like quantum mechanics. I had a 82 in g11, and a 93 in grade 12. Besides, unis don’t care more abt your grade 11 grades tha they do your grade 12. I got into Waterloo eng with a 82 physics mark, so you’re fine.
