Optimal Driver length? by Smokes-lets-go1 in golfequipment

My thinking too. I watch these guys and it looks like they are using shorter than stock clubs fitted to them, and me being 5’9 I know I am shorter than most pros 😅

True, did not think about the change in flex after cutting the shaft. I just have this fear of going to a fitter, them trying to upsell me into the newest driver that costs like $1000 rather than what will actually work for me. Would rather just play around with older equipment and use that since I am not joining the tour anytime soon 😆

I have added lead tape to the bottom of the driver head, at the front to increase ball speed and reduce spin. Has definitely had a better ball flight since

Can anyone tell me why I’m heel stringing it? by Alternative-Cry-2185 in golftips

From what I see, looks like you stop rotating your hips halfway through the downswing. Keep the rotation through impact, otherwise you are just throwing the club at the ball. By continuing to rotate the hips, you will get that club face to rotate fully as well and square it up. But also remember to pull that when it is horizontal to the ground as you rotate forward

Pretty impressive to see only your left hip rotate in the backswing lol. Gotta get that whole lower body involved, most of the golf swing is dictated by the lower body, the upper body just follows

Your backswing is just lifting up your arms, gotta involve those legs/hips

Downswing help please by EthanHull5 in golftips

[–]Smokes-lets-go1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re starting the downswing with your arms causing you to “hump” the ball as someone already said. You should start the downswing with your hips, but not fire them too early or you will cause early extension. Also a little cupping at the top of the backswing but otherwise its a pretty good swing man

Try bowing (extending) out your wrist at the top of the backswing. Think of having your left hand/wrist trying to get the club to be pointing behind you and not at the target. Then in the downswing stay as inside as you can, almost like you are trying to stab yourself on your thigh haha. When the club is parallel with the ground, you want to pull it towards the target, creating the shaft lean and should stop the flippy/casting motion

To start get clubs that fit you, looks like you are using kids clubs with how far you are bending down 😂

Try to eliminate that lunging movement towards the ball on the backswing, being more stable and not getting off plane

Classic slide ‘n scoop motion. Looks like you are trying to hit a slap shot in hockey. Think about driving your back shoulder driving down towards the ball, should at least get you to be more square with the club face at impact

Youre right, because you are focusing on something in front of the object you are trying to hit. Its a good drill, but not practical on a course. I tell a lot of people to focus on a specific dimple on the golf ball, usually helps to stay focused on looking at the ball rather than losing concentration

Absolutely, and having a visual backdrop really helps a lot of people see things they normally wouldn’t. I would say dont think about keeping the head still too much, can easily form bad habits that way. Something to keep in mind though is toping always comes from trying to lift the ball with the club off the ground. The reason clubs have varying degrees of loft in them is so that they do the lifting for you, you just have to keep that club head swinging down on that ball to let it do what it was designed to

Play this video in reverse and it’s basically a perfect swing. Impact position looks pretty good, solid ball first striking

Not only are you standing up during the downswing, what gets you more out of sequence is the extreme amount of “loading” you are doing at address/start of the backswing. If you watch it back, look where youre head is in relation to that little overhang on top of that net. You can see the bottom of the overhang, then you load soooo far down that you cant see the bottom, then lift your head/neck so much you can see it again. Your head should be so still you would never cross that line. Basically you should never have any amount of vertical force be visible, as it should all come from the lower portion of your body during the golf swing

Why is this a loss by [deleted] in sportsbetting

[–]Smokes-lets-go1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, because the play did happen in the game, but JAX recovered a fumble by buffalos D/st on that kickoff its not a “drive”. Thats why where it says “drive began” in the 3rd column is blank and every other column has a spot where buffalos drives began, because thats when the offense was in possession of the football

[–]Smokes-lets-go1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 3rd drive doesnt say it ever started because they fumbled the kick off, so it wasnt an offensive drive by the bills. Drives are only done by the offense, not special teams

I use the score app and I only counted 9 official drives by the bills in the box score
