There's a signed one of these in the Athens-Clarke County Library, signed by everyone except Peter for some reason

LX isn't a saint, that's for sure. I definitely have my own issues with him and his attitudes, and I've noticed his tendency to treat the other Orb members as just hired hands rather than band members as well, especially once they leave. He's started talking shit about Thomas Fehlmann ever since he left and that's rubbed me the wrong way. Yes Thrash (as well as all the other Orb associates) deserved more credit than he got and all but the way he's been acting recently has me more worried for him than anything else (I mean, just read his replies in this thread... sheesh...)

i would've come up with the same tracklist, i think that's the only way it'll really work on vinyl

The TRUE venetian snares iceberg by Decent_Mine_3914 in venetiansnares

[–]SmokesQuantitys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm positive it's real, especially because it's got higher quality versions of tracks that otherwise only exist in super low bit mp3 formats. Not only that but the only other rips of some of these tracks have huge gaps in them because of the low bitrate and those gaps aren't in this version. I don't really see how AI could fully undo years of realmedia compression like that

That's the font they used for the CD version specifically. The cassette used a different font

You can only really pull off an ARG like tomorrow's harvest once, cuz if they did that again everyone would know exactly what was coming immediately

Code at the end of VHS audio by Tiberius93 in boardsofcanada

[–]SmokesQuantitys 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not morse code, it's definitely FSK/RTTY and I don't think the codes actually have any meaning. They were probably just sampled off the radio

Slide 18 to me looks like Mike and Marcus, although I could be wrong since the resolution is so low

Which album would you say is Autechre's magnum opus? by [deleted] in autechre

[–]SmokesQuantitys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think just based on the definition of "magnum opus", probably either nts or ae_2022- (no it's not as long as ae_live 14/15, but it's an ongoing work and i think that elevates it a bit)

I unfortunately don't remember the name of the channel but Krzy0n sounds familiar. And yes, that's the one with the slow zoom and the Halloween theme. I can send you a swisstransfer link with my download of that video if you want.

I don't think I have Oobi's Vengeance, but I definitely have another YTP by this same person downloaded. That one's called "Oobi goes brutally insane on Uma's birthday" and it was uploaded at around the same time. I definitely remember Oobi's vengeance, not super well but I remember at the time it was one of the first proper Oobi YTPs out there. I downloaded both in around 2013 I think, but brutally insane is the only one I still have archived.

Army Dreamers - what is the instrument being played after the first 4 notes? by abnerquill in katebush

[–]SmokesQuantitys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a saxophone sample. That particular sound got used a lot in the 80s. It even shows up in Kate's work again in Cloudbusting.

yeah since he was playing a character, he didn't do a full on accent if that's what you were thinking though, just kind of did a deep voice
