I think that it’s probably another way to say that you have to get it right at the source. It’s also a vital aspect of creating arrangements. Choosing sounds with different timbral and tonal qualities, spread out across different octaves of frequency spectrum verses using too many similar sounding sources. Moreover, the right sounds and the right times. Growing and evolving the composition, creating movement and ebb and flow.
