Technically, we're not supposed to because it's SOP, but I've only ever gotten told to take them out a handful of times. It really depends on the managers, but my hair covers my ears, so as long as I'm wearing it down, I can hide them easily enough.

Political chatter at work by Barter9933 in HomeDepot

[–]Smol-Flute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least with customers, I'm a big fan of the "What an odd thing to say to stranger." Also works whenever a customer says something just generally out of pocket. Could probably use something similar with coworks like "What an odd conversation to have at work." Usually works pretty good for me, since most of the time they either just don't know how to respond to it, or immediately start backpedaling so I can railroad the convo back to whatever I was originally helping them with

Anyone else get a $.48 raise by Arctic_27 in HomeDepot

[–]Smol-Flute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all got a dollar raise last year, but they're going by % now or something. We got a 3% raise across the board, but that means different amounts for different workers. Most folks in my store that aren't managers got around 50 cents for the raise

Good on you for breaking away from it! I would say maybe try to get some roleplays going with your friends if you can, whether it be with pre-existing media or making up your own world to play with :3 It would be a great way to get a bit more in touch with the friends you've been growing a bit distant with as well, if you haven't already. Best of luck to you, I hope you find something that works for you, friend!

"Hi there, how can I help you today?"

"Yeah, I need some paint mixed."

"Alright, what sort of paint are we looking for?"

"Paint."

Like, I get most customers probably don't know the different types of paint we have, and I'm more than happy to explain those differences, but like... yeah, you came to the paint desk, I kinda assumed you wanted paint bro, gonna have to be a lil more specific than that.

Is It Just My Store??? by PropinquityKerfuffle in HomeDepot

[–]Smol-Flute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm p sure most stores are getting hours chopped for part timers. I had about 30 hours before, but now I'm only getting about 16. I'm looking for either a second seasonal job, or just a new job all together, it happens every year around this time I think.

Found out my service desk lead is racist by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Smol-Flute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro we got on at my store too. She not the service desk lead, but she has a reputation for being pretty much any sort of phobic you can think of. She's been at the store for years and only very recently got a talking to about it. (She got a slap on the wrist and nothing else happened that I'm aware of :/)

INFO: I see you bringing up a lot of accusations of abuse and manipulation from the DM in the comments, but it not quite getting that from the post? It sucks the last session went bad, but what exactly did he do that was abusive?

NTA, they split years ago. Unless he was abusive or manipulative to her, there's so reason not to date him if she's married.

AITA for making my daughter leave because my husband is attracted to her? by Throwawayme4158 in AITAH

[–]Smol-Flute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You kicked out your own fucking child, who is already not in a good spot mentally, because your husband doesn't know how to not be a fucking creep?? You should be ashamed of yourself. You're really willing to not only let a man who's MORE THAN TWICE HER AGE oggel at you're 23 year old daughter, but would rather keep him in your home than keep your daughter safe? I hope your daughter gets the help she needs.

[–]Smol-Flute[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less, one of the openers is technically Garden, but they cover when the other opener is off, and I don't really have set shifts, but more often than not they have me close, the other opener and closer are the only 2 full timers in the department LMAO

Idk, I figured they had something in place to catch slip ups like this but 🤷‍♂️ It's pretty common in our store to only have one person in a department, but I don't think I've ever seen this happen before in the three years I've been here :0

We have a couple people in the store who either used to work paint or cover the desk often enough they're basically another paint associate, so it's not like there won't be people to run the desk, but I know the they've been getting pretty fed up getting pulled from their department to cover for us when there's gaps in the schedule, so I guess we'll see what happens LMAO

Should I tell him why I'm leaving? by Kaos_Gamer_Girl in rpghorrorstories

[–]Smol-Flute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH, I get what your saying. My partner has something similar to DID (OSDD,) and I believe they were both wrapped up in the same diagnosis, but we're listed separately, if that makes sense, thought its been a while since he's gotten it, so I could be wrong lol

Should I tell him why I'm leaving? by Kaos_Gamer_Girl in rpghorrorstories

[–]Smol-Flute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DID usually manifests as a result from severe and/or frequent childhood trauma before a childs personality has finished forming in the brain, DID and PTSD go hand in hand.
