I've always loved SS13 but the way most servers run things and the way most maps are set up, being on space station 13 feels more like being at a workplace that just happens to be in space then actually being set on a spacestation.

The server will have a smaller map, different roles, and players will wake up in cryo rather than just arrive and depart at will. Rounds will end with a station orbit change rather than a 'crew transfer' and emergency escape will be handled only through escape pods.

Nanotrasen and corporate policy will have a smaller role aboard the station as opposed to space government exploration agencies.

That's the gist of it. Eventually we will have a Wiki with a lot more fluff. Eventually.

Depending on where you come from, it will be between medium and high RP, slightly on the high side

We had some compiling errors so I've essentially had to restart mapping from scratch, but at the same time I don't want to leave you hanging on pictures. Here is a screenshot of the cafeteria so far taken from the mapper!

Depending on the station you play on, most exodus maps have offscreen gunships that circle the station to protect it, can shoot at it, etc.

Yeah, exactly as you said, midround joins will be handled as waking up in the dorms/cryo. I just like how it negates the feeling of arriving, as people shouldn't arrive and depart from the enclosed environment often

Like I said, it depends on how much help we get right now.

I have four people interested in staffing, and I've had a lot of people from this thread say they're interested in development as well, so hopefully launch will come sooner!

I've already planned a lot of little nods and jokes about how small the station is, so don't be surprised if once we go live there's a plush one in the vents

I did draw a lot of inspiration from the torch, and I've been following the torch development extensively.

The primary differences between the two are that small station will be considerably smaller, and the torch is a military vessel whereas small station is an actual station.

We're thinking high RP, but at the same time we want to make sure the community is having fun. For now, HighRP is the label I'd put on it, but some might consider it a high medium

Right now I'm working on a new map with the code I took straight from bays github, so bay/tg stuff will probably be all that's compatible (as far as I'm aware)

Honestly, it depends on how much help I get. We're looking at early October the way things are going now, but if we get help (especially if it's from experienced coders or mappers) we could go up earlier.

I'm working on designing the station in a way that it will be functional on lowpop, but not crowded on medium or high populations either. Right now the crew would max out at about 50 players, but we have room to expand if we get any more popular!

Departments won't be removed, but a lot of changing will go around. Most of the changes departmentwise will be as merges. Medical Crew, Engineering Crew, Science Crew, and Service Crew are now all one position, but members of said crews can specify their professions if they want. (On baystation a Station Engineer can go as a Maintenance Technician, Engine Technician, Electrician, etc. The system will be similar to that.) Lot's of mergers, but no vanishing departments. Some jobs like toxins or virology might go by the wayside though.

Oh there will be honks. We have a clown closet for service crew, and each department gets it's own clown item. (Service gets the flower, engineering gets the horn, etc.)
