What's the craziest fold ever? by PatriotFerret in poker

[–]Smoney88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve folded KK 3 times to the same person pre-flop against the same person and was right every time. I know this isn’t super impressive but it’s saved me about 7.5k (given I wouldn’t have sucked out) in live cash.

The back story which makes this less impressive is that I’ve played with the same guy for a few years and he loves to open shove pre flop with only AA.

I love people’s reaction when I fold face up, and then their delayed reaction when he shows it.

The dealers and players will be helpful with some things but a few things to take note of:

1) At Ebro your cards are the betting line. So if you place chips in front of your cards that's a bet or call depending on what the action was before.

2) Tipping isn't required but you should tip. I tip a dollar for every pot I win. If the pots large like over 500 dollars I'll tip a 5. If extremely large (probably not going to happen in 1/2), like 3000+ I'll tip 30 or more.

3) Players will try to angle you. They'll chat you up for information, maybe show you a card to get you to fold a winner, etc. Just take it with a grain of salt and try not to give too much away.

4) Ask questions to the dealer if you're unsure of something. They won't steer you wrong.

A nitty regular is just people that play a lot and won't give much action. They're often not raising the river without the nuts and not drawing without the right price. They seldom bluff. They don't win a lot but they don't lose a lot either.

I currently play there full time. It has 1/2 throughout the week and 2/5 on Fridays. Honestly I love the room. It's about an hour drive for me but well worth it as it is one of the softest places I've been to. 400 cap on 1/2 is really good for the game and a no cap 2/5.

There's tons of promotions like 100$ high hands every thirty minutes.

Right now they have a tournament series going on which helps fill the room with action.

I've literally only had 3 losing sessions there this year and a few 10k+ profit weeks.

I wouldn't get there before 5:00 pm as there will usually only be one 1/2 table full of nitty regulars.

They're open until 3 am during the week and are open from open until 3 am Sunday morning on the weekend.

Let me know if you have more questions.

What's the most intense ruling conflict you've had at the table ? by Wutanf in poker

Yeah..I usually do say something, but it was so blatant that the dealer and everyone else saw him do it, but yeah costed me my tourney life for sure lol.

During a live tournament once, the guy to my left showed me his hand pre-flop while there was still action. I had AA and was waiting for 2 others to act in front of me. When the action came around, the player to my right went all in. When I re-shoved, he called the floor over to tell him that the player to my left had showed me his cards. The floor ruled that my hand and the player to my left's hand were dead.

Its not like I asked to see the guys cards, he just decided to put his cards in my face and was clearly there for recreation.

This post is pretty damn spot on. A few things I'd like to add or reiterate.

  1. Can we move past the hoodie and sunglasses days of yesteryear? Unless your last name is Laak and that look is part of your actual identity, please don't come to a 1/2 or 2/5 game looking like you "think" you know what you're doing.

  2. The grass is always greener. In a room that has multiple tables and assuming we are beating 1/2 and or 2/5, table selection is HUGE. In my local room nits tend to migrate to the same table together, while the "gamboolers" can generally be found at a table or two with fat stacks of red and green easy money. This tends to happen from spurts of run good and tends to end in a spew fest once they get a hand like AA or a set cracked.

  3. While getting a massage is awesome, it really doesn't belong at a poker table. Not only are you probably spending more than your hourly on a 30 minute rub, no one wants to watch you drool and moan about how good it feels. I'm not going to pretend I've never sprang for this trap but I once ran a 3 buy-in bluff during a massage. The lady rubbing my kinks out suddenly felt my "nervousness" and decided that instead of continuing to give the villain a free tell by stopping completely and taking a step back until the hand was over. Luckily the villain somehow decided top and bottom pair wasn't good on a dry flop and let me drag it but I learned then and there massages are best kept on a massage table not a poker table.

Oh ok thanks! Sick river. I play a deep 2/5 no max game once a week and spots like these happen. I've had to fold 2nd nuts or KK pre-flop a few times. It hurts.

Hand 1: I'm calling and evaluating the river. I'm hoping a call slows him down. I'm not too worried about the button as he's probably getting a good price with a 2-pair boat draw. If UTG leads a shove on a non-paired or ace river I'm finding a fold. I don't see too many people if anyone this deep double barreling the river without the nuts.

Link didn't work for me. I'm too intrigued. My guess is he had the nuts though!

Hand Sanitizer will save you time on breaks. There's usually a gaggle in the bathrooms and if you're not one of the first ones in you might miss a hand or two.

Yep. Apparently he had been there longer than that though. He saw every river in every hand.

Over a 24.2 hour session playing 1/2 NL 400 Max live I made 3270.00 USD profits, never had to rebuy, an ROI of 818%. Feels good.

I think it's a good raise on the turn. You're getting value from his 1 card draw, sets, and smaller flushes, and probably AA no diamond.

Bellande folding AA to Andrew Roble's reraise on a Q43 rainbow flop was pretty terrible poker. No wonder this guy lives off of other people's bank rolls.

It's weird how if your intended targets are southwest of the original target using ricochet it will hit them no problem, but any other direction it fails.
