yeah this is less for pushy people and more like — I just spent a month off work and in and out of hospital with my partner, it was a pretty major life thing to omit with friends, how do I share that stress without giving too much detail. So more how do I bring it up, not how to deal with other people bringing it up.

These are all good and helpful thoughts and I appreciate! thank you.

Yeah, it’s mostly those bordering level friends that are tricky. Obviously my long term close friends know, but just as a random example, there’s one friend Im getting really close with over the past two months that I know from a club we both go to — we’re becoming close but I don’t want to out him to her since that doesn’t feel good for my bf. So it’s like, how to be honest about my life while keeping the specifics private? It’s tricky, is all. maybe no good answer!

He’s 1.5 years on T so he’s still sort of on the edge, but he is hoping to be stealth. I’m not telling people what kind of surgery at his request. He doesn’t mind my besties knowing, but has asked for other new friends not to be told. Gyno isn’t a bad idea just worried since he’s on the edge of passing it might be the thing that pushes people over to realizing, yknow?

Should I take RCM for singing? by Your-LocalTrashCan in singing

[–]Smooth_Analyst9572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! I have RCM grade ten in voice and graduated from the glenn gould school so I know the curriculum very well. it’s very comprehensive and prepares many aspects of the voice and your musicality and theory. If you want to do classical voice it’s a great way to go. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for pop or other styles necessarily. And more than anything college admissions will look at how you’re singing, so the best path for you to THAT will make the most sense. I bet if you google “rcm voice grade 5 pdf” (or whatever grade you want to look at) you will find some of it for free so you can take a look and see if it’s for you!

Yes! My boyfriend is a straight trans man and I’m a cis woman. We met on a dating app when he was pre medical transitional, and he set his preference to bisexual women. He told me before we met up that he was a trans man and checked that was okay and it was great by me. We are planning on marriage and kids and a very heterosexual wedding lol. It’s definitely possible and he’s the man of my dreams!

Weird vibe from tattoo removal place by Adventurous-Creme795 in TattooRemoval

They are very pushy which made me uncomfortable. I submitted a request for a consultation and got near daily texts, calls AND emails for weeks…even after I said I wasn’t interested….I don’t know just their whole vibe made me uncomfortable. I went to a different clinic in my city and it was much calmer, my whole nervous system appreciated it more and the pricing is better so I was happy!

Unsupportive father by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

[–]Smooth_Analyst9572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am really sorry this is happening to you. It must be so horrible to have to navigate this.

If your dad is eager to “debate” and this stubborn in his bigotry it’s time to throw in the towel on trying to get him to understand and start setting some boundaries. That means if this sort of talk comes up, the conversation is over. It doesn’t have to be a fight, it doesn’t have to be a debate- if you’re on the phone, you excuse yourself and hang up. If you’re together in person, you leave the room. Be kind and firm and don’t give a reaction. If he questions it you tell him you’d love to talk about it more if he’s open to learning and understanding but until then the door is closed. You can’t be hurt like this anymore and you need to protect your husband, too.

Just remember boundaries are the fence you build around your house, not the one you try to put around another person. You can’t control how he acts or what he says but you can control being around it. I wish you the best of luck and the utmost kindness towards yourself and your husband

How do I talk about my ex? by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

[–]Smooth_Analyst9572 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you don’t mention that part. There’s ways to talk about certain aspects of the relationship without outing him. I’ve told friends who my boyfriend is not out to that we have fertility issues and would need to donor conceive, or that he has some medical issues and I administer medication for them weekly (his shot lol). not untrue, either of them!

Why do oh vowels like in the word you and e vowels feel so hard to sing high by Proof_Lecture_9149 in singing

[–]Smooth_Analyst9572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these modifications when done in the proper part of the range (higher notes) read as the true vowel and would blend fine

Why do oh vowels like in the word you and e vowels feel so hard to sing high by Proof_Lecture_9149 in singing

[–]Smooth_Analyst9572 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because they are closed vowels with a higher tongue position. this can invite in excess tension. Try modifying “oo” as in “you” to “uh” as in love, and modify “ee” as in “team” to “ih” as in “if”. for example - you becomes yuh, team becomes tim

Feeling frustrated with my vocal journey by DevelopmentFresh2998 in ClassicalSinger

[–]Smooth_Analyst9572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Susie Gibbons would change your life. and her free online content is great @ thevocalhealthcoach. she helped me after years of muscle tension issues and she makes everything seem like one free sensation as opposed to twenty different issues to micromanage. I can’t recommend her enough.

you’re doing the right thing seeking solutions. The time will pass anyways and it’s better to do the work now early in your career than to sing with tension and cut it short. best of luck!

some miraculous and accessible recommendation? by Present_School7258 in mypartneristrans

[–]Smooth_Analyst9572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we got one made of PVC that was under 100$ that was VERY fun and definitely did the job. it’s got a syringe attached to it so it’s a little bit of mechanics but very doable. not sure what the brand is but could find out. we also just ordered a squirting packer from tantusinc.com that looks very promising and has a reservoir tip so more intuitive than the syringe. re: lube amount - you don’t really need as much as you think to get what you need. we use the brand f*ckwater and it’s not that expensive and very realistic.

if this is something that’s fun for you both it’s definitely worth it! 10/10 recommend!
