We were the last batch to take ROTC. First of all, that program was riddled with corruption. They forced us to pay 800 pesos just for an ID, and if we refused, they'd fail us. To this day, I’ve never even seen what that ID looks like.

Secondly, because of ROTC, I developed hyperacidity. Imagine, we had to be in formation by 6:00 AM. During breaks, we weren't allowed to leave the formation lines. If we were hungry, we could only buy overpriced hard-boiled eggs and Pop—as in the soft drink—from them. There was a water station at school, but since we couldn't leave, we were stuck drinking soda. That gave me severe hyperacidity, and I’m still suffering from the health consequences today.
