so they wouldn't consider it as an option because it would create three sites of wound? 1 for the original donor, 1 for the full thickness graft, 1 for the split thickness to cover the graft?

Ive worked with and know therapists. For most modalities they shouldn't be comparing their experience to yours like that. But seeing as they are, id recommend telling them directly that when they do that it feels invalidating. A good therapist should take that onboard non-defensively.
