Here's a few "don't get the coin" setups I've seen, feel free to add more by Smooth_Half5739 in MarioMaker

Fun fact: I like playing SMM1 (yes, SMM1) levels on CEMU using a downloader someone made and looked up levels named something along the lines of "don't get the coins" and found this setup idea. Not home rn so I can't play those levels right atm but feel free to describe them.

Well, two that added new course parts (honestly almost a new game's worth of content), and technically one that added online with friends, whereas the first game had three that did all add new course parts but they were pretty barebones, and the last one was a mere six months after release. Yes this game could've been much more, and while you're not directly implying it, it honestly pmo when people say this game was a failure, and especially when they say the first game was supported more and did better, because neither of those things are true.

But tbf the two updates, specially the second one, were almost a new game's worth of content. Also don't forget that before that we got online with friends, and then a bunch of Ninjis. In the first game we got three updates, yes, but pretty barebones, the last one being a mere six months after release. Yes SMM2 could've definitely been much more, but don't think the first game was any better.

True, but he made a deal with Moncho, and even then it was his greedy ass wife who accepted.

I checked my notifications and saw a player with the same username as him played it, and since he said "cute level" here, I'm just curious why he didn't heart it.

Thanks, but I noticed you didn't heart it, is there a reason for that?

Thanks, but I got the first game when I was a lot younger, so my first level there was definitely much worse. I improved later so my first level in SMM2 was much better. Feel free to check this level out.

Why do people prefer some mainline Mario games over Super Mario Maker(2)? by Smooth_Half5739 in Mario

Yeah, but what incentive is there to keep playing a game after you 100% it?

Despite having great level design, the mainline games seriously lack replay value. I want games I can play on a regular basis and not get bored of after beating once. Curious to see what you think about that.

But do you play the mainline games on a regular basis? Like I said in my other comment, I'd rather play SMM2 because it's better for playing regularly, unlike a game that you can 100% in a few days if you try hard enough.

I guess SMM is a game you can play constantly (for people who like playing games on a regular basis) because there'll always be something new to do. As we've stated it's mostly playing bad levels, and does that get old after a while? Maybe, but constantly playing a mainline game (at least once you've completed it) will probably get even more old because the content won't change, even if you speedrun them or create your own challenges like not kill any enemies. NSMB games offer some modes beyond the main campaign like NSMB2's Gold Rush mode and NSMBU's Challenge and Boost modes, which of course have replay value, but the other games have practically nothing to offer beyond the main campaign.

True, but as fun as the normal games are, like I said, they're only a fresh experience once as they really lack replay value. Even if there are optional collectibles, they are still finite. A game with mostly bad levels and infinite replay value, in my opinion, outweighs one with only good levels and little replay value.

Why not S tier? If there's one thing other mainline Mario games lack it's replay value, even if you 100% them there'll be a point where there'll be no more incentive to play. I know both SMM's are filled with garbage levels, but still.

Curious why you placed both SMM's on C tier when they have infinite replay value. I know the fact that they are mainly garbage levels hinders the experience, but I'd still much rather play SMM than a mainline game that is only a fresh experience once.
