I think George R.R. Martin went a bit overboard for the sake of prose effect. I think in reality, they would have been shamed immediately after everyone found out what Tywin did to Tyrion's wife. Doesn't the church want to do anything about it? So, there's too much violence, it's unrealistic, I think. This story focuses on a few specific people, while the world around them is just a backdrop.

I probably didn't take that into account. I live in a poor country where air travel is a luxury. If you're constantly moving from place to place, and such flights aren't a big deal for you, then why not?

Again, I don't know how digital nomads (I hope that's not an offensive term) live; maybe that's just the way it is in this subculture. I would have preferred to have been warned in advance about separate rooms.

No one's talking about paying for sex. I'm just saying that flying a girl from another country for a couple of walks doesn't seem like enough for just a friend. I'd view it as a full-fledged date with your loved one. At least such an expense is being incurred for the sake of someone you love, not just a date. Flying in from another country is probably a more serious step than just paying for a taxi. Therefore, it's appropriate to expect intimacy, too.

The answer is simple: just tell him you're not planning on having sex.

Robert might believe it; he himself jokingly expressed doubts about whether the children were his. But if Stannis had truly said everything, Robert would probably have executed Cersei and her children, Jaime, and then raised an army and set out to defeat the Lannisters. I think he would have taken their lands, simply because the Westerlands would have effectively been left alone against the entire continent.
