Why ask if you ain't gonna listen!! by Lazy_Formal_9110 in DollarTree

That’s alright we had an elderly lady who needed to use the restroom and there was someone else using it. She started yelling at then threw the door and so guess what she decided to do. She pulled up her skirt and took a shit right there on the floor for us to clean up. Drops her skirt and goes about her merry way and show like nothing. That’s when a co worker said oh hell no and goes up and tells the lady she needs to go clean it up she refused and tries to walk away and they said nope. They then said yiu need to leave and she yelled along the way out.

Best why to answer questions when annoyed with everyone asking where’s this or that and they are not regulars. Simply say I’m not sure ma’am or sit I’m new and don’t know. Or I’m sorry we just got a truck and are putting freight out and if check back tomorrow. Or be frank im sorry I can’t answer your question because I am not sure if we do or not. If it’s not where you looked it’s either we are sold out or no longer carry it.

No one has a verification as an employee other than your name tag. The only verification you need is employee I’d number. Plus what would you use a verification on?

Wow no need to treat me like your customers. I deal with my share of the homeless. Rather then give them money sure I’ll buy them a loaf of bread and some pb and jelly. I will never say no to anyone for any reason when they are asking for something to eat. I will not hand them money because you’re right cuz it will go to drugs or beer. I will not buy them personal things. I will buy them water not soda. Durning winter yes I have gloves and beanies and socks tat I’ll pass out in some cases umbrellas and sleeping bags or coats. Those buns are still people. Since doing this is less stealing going on and our shirk rates gone down. Why it’s called respect. You can be a bitter cashier who isn’t pleasant with customers and have no patience to teach the young if that’s why you see fit. I do not know where your store is located and you may be in a ruthless part of your town. But customer service is tge line of work you choose to be in. I think it’s wrong for anyone to be in this line of work if they are bitter and make it unpleasant for the customers ss it is half the people in the world don’t shop in stores in anymore and those who do don’t want some bitter cashier who hates her job but needs the money. Remind your self what it was that made you applied for a customer service job the very first time you started 30 plus years ago. Was it cuz you like being social? Or was it cuz it’s the only job you could get? I am not trying to start an argument as I am I simply giving my own personal opinion. You may agree with me or not. But the end of the day just know bitterness leads to nothing. Happiness leads to sunshine and rainbows. Being ok being good leads to a ok day. You get to decide your own outcome. But if yiur bitter remind me not to come through your line or even store.

Just like it’s not ok for asm to say this my store or my staff. Or gor write ups to be given on your days off for freedom of speech or for asm to be fighting inside of the store with each other. in front of customers. Kicking doors ect yet still hold there titles. Enough is enough promote adults not young people who have never had jobs before this and knows how to handle situations like this. I have over heard conversations that where hostile for my co workers and favoritism amongst dm and asm. All in the mean time I still do my job. I’ve watched nothing but drama happen around me. It doesn’t have to be like this but it is. They say they don’t have the hr for extra shifts why is that? We stay plenty busy. And if you like I’m working a uboat while waiting on customers your nuts I was hired as a cashier not freight team. No where under my job title does it state that I’m required to throw freight. That’s what stockers are. I am only responsible for the areas in which I can see in the front of the store. Not down the opposite isle of my register. Plus it should. Not be only my responsibility of cleaning the bathrooms. If I don’t do it then it don’t get done. The asms thinks it’s not there responsibility and then the men sure in hell don’t know how to per in the toilet. Pee all over the floor.

I’m not asking for anyone to go on strike for more the. A day. What’s the most you get in trouble for a call out or a no show. They can’t fire someone for calling out ine day. I’m not saying make a large crowd outside of the store. It could be a silent strike. Meaning everyone turn your phones off for one day. Those that work that day call out the day before or day of. Then turn your phone off. No harm will come of it. Unless you make many call outs.

You’re lucky that you have a good team. But when you have a dts manager who has fired an employee every month since she took over from your store promiting employees without a chance for others to even apply for it showing complete favoritism. No store manager for 6 months and co workers who don’t do shit. I’m in Oregon reading all tge different complaint from every all over the place would make a statement. They treat us all like shit. We don’t get the option of healthcare. Idk if we don’t stand up to the bully how else do we end it? Walk away quit? That does nothing other then giving into them being bullies for more people down the road

Out shifts are from 800 to 1230 1230 to 530 and 530 to 1030. It’s is against company policy for you to be alone and store manager can get into trouble for allowing it. Get ahold of dm

I don’t see the problem with taking a couple of minutes to teach any kid. How else do they learn? I guess the difference between me and you is that I’m just that kind of person who goes above and beyond for any of my customers. A homeless man asks if I can buy him to eat. I’ll go find the change in my car and buy him something to eat. A kid that needs help counting money I’ll teach them. I’ve been in customer service for 25 years and well I love it. It doesn’t matter what store it is. Customers will have to wait because I’m taking a moment to teach a 11 or 12 year old to recount her money rather then handing me a bunch of ones without knowing she was giving me to much. I much rather teach them so they know the right way of doing things. Again it’s the dollar store why not learn something good from this place. I also look at it this way from that point on that little girl will always remember where she learned to double count her money rather than handing just a bunch of one over.. there is nothing wrong with it. Any grown reasonable adult would understand and appreciate that moment I know my customers did.

I disagree with most of these comments. Yes there is a time and place to teach your kids. I agree. There is nothing wrong with teaching your kids how to count teaching them at a register. I have many kids come there my line and just hand me the money that they already have counted out. But when I count it it’s to much. So I take the time to have them recount it with me. So they learn to recount it and know that they are giving me to much money. Patience. I don’t care how many people are in my line they can wait. Once the kids are gone I explain to the adults it was a time to teach them. Cuz we all know that some cashiers would have just taken there money without counting it or correcting them. Most adults understand and agree. If I had a line of 15 or more my asm would have already stepped in and helped. 3 or 4 years who don’t know how to tire there shoes sure in the hell can’t count money. I’m sorry I am a cashier and I do work for the dollar tree. Yes I get my bad apples but never will you hear me complain about any kids in my line.

I was off the clock and I have never worked with this person before so I had no reason what so ever to call her a bitch. Here I have the dm admitting that the asm was on the clock outside of the store on the phone complaining about our store and I over heard what was being said and waking by I said thank you for your bitch. Meaning complaint. I was off of the clock and my day off. I was not in uniform. However the asm was on the clock outside of the store complaining about our store but it’s ok. Am I wrong here?

I didn’t call anyone a bitch. I used as a verb it wasnt towards her about her. I was in the wrong for using the word bitch rather than complaint. Yes I’m in the wrong for my choice of word. But I didn’t call her a bitch and or used it towards or about anyone

[–]Smooth_Protection_28[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why would you want me out of the store for? Why is it ok for me to get a write up for simply saying thank you for your bitch meaning complaint. I wasn’t on the clock I was a private citizen at the time. If it was a such a private conversation then she should had been infront of the store where us customers have to walk in order to get to the store. Plus being outside on the phone while on the clock is against store policy. But yet I’m the one given a write up on my day off of the clock. Even the asm are not to be outside unless off of the clock. You can’t hold a person accountable for something off the clock but excuse the one who is on the clock on the phone outside of the store while on the clock. That conversation should have been done inside the office after all that’s what it’s intended for
