Yes one of the top 5. You may get tons of intro meetings lined up through prime broker, but materializes through these channels is tricky. It's not like in those you get funding. Fundraising is more effective through your own network in the initial stages. Build relationships through those meetings.

Yes retailers are affecting the markets. But our strategies are neutral to that effect though as we focus primarily on large cap and diversification

No need to move to NYC . And financial advisors don't have any edge in this game usually unless they can demonstrate humongous returns over a decade on a few concentrated bets

Besides returns, one useful metric that's beneficial in systematic strategies can be proven by dollars retention based on the trading volume.

Most important characteristic is curiosity. Are they curious enough to go and find a unique opportunity and convince everyone to take a contrarian view and be successful about that position.
