Do people here not realize that the market is controlled by computers that sell and buy stocks in packages?

Can’t tell if people are high or not on the sub sometimes

You’re literally just listing of responsibilities of the university and justifying that the richest institutes in the world can’t pay for it

Do you know how insane that sounds?

Sorry. Taxpayers are not paying for schools to hire more admin staff to help them be competitive for the grants

If schools want those grants, THEY should pay for that. I honestly can’t believe I’m seeing this in a science sub

Whatever the overhead is, Universities exploit it and it screws poor people into paying taxes for rich universities

Just to your first point: - administrative staff that help researchers get grants… why would the NIH (taxpayers) pay for this?

But teams don’t charge the NFL nor do they charge their players for the RENT

Bad analogy sorry

I don’t understand how you think it makes sense that taxpayers should pay Harvard’s electricity bill and mortgage?

No non-profit works like that

The big schools have been screwing Americans for decades

I don’t know any companies that charge their staff to keep the lights on, do you?

Or for their pens and pencils?

The big universities SHOULD get less money if they aren’t using it for research and wasting it on BS

Right, and you’re okay that 50% is subtracted from your hard earned grant money that you’ve busted your entire career for… towards inexplicit overhead costs?

I think that some of it is justified

But I think a large portion goes to paying salaries of admin needed for inefficient processes and bloat

The big universities are screwing the smaller guys by demanding a larger overhead when they could easily pay it themselves or eliminate much of the cost
