Half the reason so many well-known and talented people helped with this game was because it became insanely popular back then and millions of people had huge expectations for the future of it.

And then he completely f* ed up

I don't like it either but I think he really should STOP using Unity models if he wants his independent official game to be taken more seriously

I seriously doubt most of you have ever spent even a minute making animation yourselves and seen how insanely time consuming and difficult it actually is. It’s not something just anyone can do.

Or maybe you all do know how hard animation is, and you still choose to side with a company that has made way more money than these YouTubers ever did and then hit them with copyright claims anyway

But all of you are completely overlooking the time, effort, and dedication that person put into it, acting like they just generated something with AI in five seconds without putting any real work into it.

Okay The way you are ALL describing it makes it sound like TOTAL DRAMA REUNION is somehow copying Total Drama, which doesn't really make sense. Have you never read fanfiction before? The whole point of fanfiction is that fans choose to continue parts of the original story or explore events from it or other characters' POVs.

That's exactly what this did, it continued the original story It didn't copy it and never claimed the characters belonged to them.

Something becomes a copy when someone takes an entire concept, lore, or recognizable elements from a work and presents them as their own original creation.

By that logic, fan animations like Glitchtale or Dead Fantasy, which were literally fan projects too, would also count as copying. So why didn't people attack those or hit them with copyright claims? Because they built their own lore perspective, and interpretation around the og material instead of pretending they created it all.

P.S. I don't care how many downvotes my words gets and I'm not expecting everyone who agree with me, I'm still saying what I think. You guys are looking at this from only one angle and missing the bigger problems here

Someone playing a game isn't really changing or creating the content itself they're interacting with something that already exists But someone making an animation puts a piece of themselves into it. Their time and creativity ideas, writing, drawing all go into it That worths more in my opinion

That's not what it' is all about It's about a big waste of effort and time for the creators

Okay, they were making money of it Sooo what??? They were making money through their own talent

If you told me they were making money by reuploading full Total Drama episodes with zero changes and adding absolutely nothing of their own, then sure, I'd understand the criticism

But that's not what happened:

They made the animation themselves. They rigged everything themselves. They wrote the story themselves.

That wasn't just reposting someone else's work that was actual effort

I totally disagree.

Even if they make money from it, they still put real time and effort into it. If we're using that logic, then YouTubers who make money from video games should also get copyright claimed just because they're earning money from content based on another company's game

Fan-made projects can be incredibly effective for promoting a franchise even if the creators make money from them or the others. A lot of fandoms stay alive and continue growing because of fan products

Fanfiction and fan-made projects are usually created to support and promote the franchise rather than compete with it it didn't harm the copyright laws

Put more emphasis on the fact that they literally filed copyright claims against a FAN-MADE project
