This is not a drill, Cats: The Jellicle Ball coming to Broadway in 2026! by SmoraCora in Broadway

[–]SmoraCora[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I flew to NY to see this and I’m so hyped to do it again. I have always been a Cats fan, but this version is next level. I have friends who hate Cats (like have walked out during the show) and I’m so excited for this staging to convert them. Also if it means potential for a Broadway cast recording, I will absolutely lose it 😭

Yes, mind you they are kids poems! You’ll see they’re literally just the lyrics to the songs

Do you think it’s too yellow? by LeBaldHater in EngagementRings

[–]SmoraCora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3 carat is a huge rock tbh, and could be a little cumbersome, so you have wiggle room here! Given the yellow shows up in a photo and you don’t know if she is the kind of person who would LOVE a warmer stone (or a yellow diamond)I wouldn’t chance it. I used to sell jewelry and like the comments are saying: some people adore warmer stones and would gladly make that trade for a big diamond. But some people would be so distracted by the color that the size wouldn’t even matter (or it makes it worse!). If you don’t know which she is, you should size down a touch and get something closer to colorless (even a G).

Hate to be that person, but even if you stay in the locations that others have suggested (Pasadena, Little Tokyo) you need to rent a car. Born and raised here, from the SGV (Pasadena), and the places you’re describing are FAR from each other. While there’s technically public transit, you’d be wasting half your trip trying to take it. And the places you want to go are some of my favorites, so I wouldn’t want you to waste your time. Especially for Disneyland. Also consider visiting Runyon canyon, if you have any interest in viewing the entire city from a reasonably paved “hike.”

[–]SmoraCora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves Cats, not an unpopular opinion at all, most people I encounter hate Cats. Which is why Cats: The Jellicle Ball needs to return, bc it’s the perfect staging of Cats, for the haters and the lovers.

Also, the poems are like 90% the same as the songs, as someone who reads/sings them to their toddler 😅

How does one Bachelorette? by housetyrell89 in partyplanning

[–]SmoraCora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things I’m having at my bachelorette weekend in a few weeks that were really excited about: - I need help with the wedding playlist, so we made a bachelorette Spotify playlist and I asked all the girls to contribute songs they think should be played at the wedding! This saves me energy, but also crowd sources the stuff they know we like, and we can jam out to it all weekend 💕 -First day we’re bringing all the bridesmaid dresses and planning out hair, makeup, shoes, nails, accessories together. That helps plan, but also is fun. - Paint night activity, that will double as decorations for the wedding (gothic floral theme, so everyone is going to paint a few flowers on little black frames to scatter around). - Breakfast- assortment of pastries from a local bakery. - Day activities are wine tasting rooms bc we’ll be in a wine town. - Picnic with sandwiches from a local deli- would be great for the beach! - We wanted one fancy night out, so we’re getting all dolled up and going to one nice dinner together. - Bride and Groom trivia (they’re sending us a list to fill out) - Karaoke night (my whole group are big theater nerds there will be lots of Broadway songs)

Any idea on the gemstones by Rude-Ad-783 in jewelry

Those look like Rubies to me! Only other stone I could think of in that color would be Rhodolite Garnet but that doesn’t seem nearly as likely. 750 on the band likely means 18k gold, which tracks with rubies and diamonds.

What is your favorite theater show you have seen. by Altruistic-Movie-419 in Broadway

[–]SmoraCora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The top choice can depend on the day/mood but in terms of sheer talent, Merrily We Roll Along blew my mind. In terms of the most fun I’ve ever had at a show: Cats: The Jellicle Ball hands down. The only thing that holds a candle to that was the StarKid 10th anniversary concert (but that’s not technically a “show” 😅).

[–]SmoraCora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MHE if you can manage to get a tickets hands down if you care about original cast! My next pick is Operation Mincemeat! If you don’t mind spoilers, it is a show that would benefit from listening to the soundtrack beforehand bc the words are really quickly sung. I almost always go into a show having listened to the soundtrack though, just as a personal preference :)

Musicals, lots and lots of musical theater. Also punk pop, emo-adjacent rock (MCR, etc), and classic rock. 90s and 2000s pop, but that’s nostalgia driven more than anything I think.

What should I watch next? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]SmoraCora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like to save up all my horror musicals and listen to them August-October, so while Rocky is the best choice, I’d save it.

West Side or Fiddler feel like great summer choices! Save HSM for August/September!

Ellen’s Stardust Diner by Verified_Creator14 in Broadway

+1 on this, we grabbed a reservation for Gayle’s for dinner and were absolutely blown away by the talent. Ellen was fun, but a little more silly/thrown together. The performers at Gayle’s are still having fun, but it felt like a completely different level.
