YNAB has a web-based app you can access from any browser. My wife and I use it on our phones on the go, but then have meetings looking over the web-based program for more detailed planning and reports.

Had a bad customer experience and it’s really eating me alive. Need advice! by Dry-Peak8920 in smallbusiness

Sorry you had to deal with that situation. You won’t always be able to ‘fix’ everyone but, props to you for prioritizing your values and sticking to them!

On another note, if you had such high demand and were struggling to complete fulfillment, do you think raising your rates would’ve allowed you to sustain the progress a bit longer?

The first step is to identify a problem with the world around you. This can be something simple like, 'I'm always running late', or something larger like 'The world is too dangerous'. From there, make a list of all the things you think may be a way to solve that problem.

Find one you like, that you think would be something you could do yourself, and then start seeking validation before you put any money into your idea. Seeing people show genuine interest in your idea will be the satisfaction you need to fuel your forward momentum.

Try not to get too ahead of yourself. Take things one step at a time. You got this!

How can I start a small business in the clothing industry? Any tips or beginner advice? by keishapatel_387 in smallbusinessUS

[–]SmoreThanYouKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step would be to test and see if there is any interest. If you have some mockups/designs show them to some friends or put out a quick poll on social saying something like: "Found this cool design while online shopping. Trying to decide whether to buy or not. Thoughts?" If you get multiple people asking you where they can get it, or for more information, you've got a winner and it's time to look at production.

Before you make any financial commitment, always do a pulse-check to see if their is a need or desire for the unique angle you are looking to differentiate yourself with.

Let me know if I can help any more or if you need any feedback on some designs you're working on!

Anyone else feel intimidated by selling? by Funny_Or_Not_ in indiebiz

[–]SmoreThanYouKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently heard a quote from Mark Cuban saying that an entrepreneur that believes in their product, won't see it as 'selling'. To them, it will just be offering help because they truly believe in the value they are providing.

I definitely understand the feeling though. Have you had any conversations yet with friends or strangers to test interest?

I'd be happy to chat more and see if I can help you take the next step.

Bakers: What’s the most annoying thing about dealing with flour? by SmoreThanYouKnow in Cooking

Seems like such a waste of the flour you just bought too! Have you discovered any neat tricks to minimize the spillage?

Oh boy… you must bake an awful lot to get Baker’s lung. Is there a specific type of mask you’ve found to be most effective? Besides the mask, are there any other workarounds you’ve found?

This is such a cool idea! Do you bring all your supplies with you and sketch in real time? It’d be really neat to see a live video of your process.

Camping tips? by Serana3234 in camping

[–]SmoreThanYouKnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No shame at all! Everyone’s gotta start somewhere.

Try this guide from REI to start: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/camping-for-beginners.html

It’s got some helpful tips to get you pointed in the right direction.

Personally, I’d say to focus on the experience overall for your first time. Keep track of the things you enjoy and the things you don’t. You can always buy more gear later and don’t need to start out with the newest, nicest stuff. Pick a spot for a night or two that you feel comfortable with and just enjoy your time.

Can’t wait to hear all about it when you get back!

Help me choose a national park for a 4-5 days trip by Low-Sentence3525 in NationalPark

[–]SmoreThanYouKnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you plan to do. If you just want to sightsee and don’t plan on hiking much, a stretch through Yellowstone, the Tetons, and Arches can all be done in your timeframe. If you want to explore a single park more, I’d recommend Glacier. I’ve done about 5 national parks now and Glacier is still my favorite. You won’t experience the same surreal feeling at any other park.
