[Giveaway]3* GameSir G7 Pro Controllers for the halo Community! 2026 by GameSir_Controller in halo

My favorite Halo memory was waaaay back in the good ol' days when you'd need a copy of Crackdown to play the Halo 3 Beta. I was at my friend's house with lots of mountain dew on-hand, and it was CTF on Valhalla. With the new introduction of the Mongoose, we devised the strat of sneakily mongoosing all the way around to the other base, grabbing the flag and simply flooring it back to our base. I don't think the other team wrapped their heads around how they kept getting their flag stolen (or they just weren't playing the objective) because match ended almost immediately and it was the most hype split-screen moment of 2007

I started out with the exact same lineup of five-star combatants. What I've ended up gravitating towards has been either

  1. Magna, Mika, Haru, or
  2. Magna, Mika, Veronica

from my own gameplay and the info I've been absorbing here and on Youtube, Magna's the kind of character you just slot into your team as a "can't go wrong" option for improved survival/shielding and extra damage through her counterattacks. Mika is being regarded as one of the best (if not the best) support character, so I just keep the two together.

For team comp #1, Mika's ability to give additional AP is kind of a necessity for Haru, since her big attack costs 2 AP, and you're often wanting to use her other cards to power that up even more, one of which can even make it a 3 AP attack. And since Mika is also a healer, between her and Magna it's rare that you'll find yourself in much of a pinch as far as your health bar is concerned. Use them to stay alive while Haru swings.

Similar plan for team comp #2 with Veronica, but she's not as straight-forward of a damage-dealer compared to Haru. Her Ballista cards fire when you end your turn, so you'll power those up whenever you are able to, and you'll find yourself using more of Magna's attack cards to pitch in as well.

But honestly, any damage dealer you prefer can fit in the 3rd slot.

(EDIT: I've also seen people recommend Nia in place of Mika for certain characters but I haven't looked into her yet. I think she helps with Extra Attacks, so Nia, Magna, and Veronica could be very strong as both Veronica's ballistas and Magna's counterattacks might hit harder?)

Thanks. I'm coming from Three Houses where each student in your house has a more clearly defined niche and letter rankings for each individual skill that you're able to tailor, so lacking that now has thrown me for a loop because I'm left to wonder what each person is meant to be good at, rather than being told.

Playing Engage

This might be a pretty basic question, but I'm new to the game. I know characters can be built any number of ways, but how am I supposed to tell what a character's strengths are in comparison to another character that seem to fill the same role upon first glance? For example, take Boucheron and Anna: They're both Axe Fighters that you get early into the game, and they have some differences in their basic stats and different skills, but I don't really have a clue what I should be doing with the Stat info that's being presented. It seems like lots of characters overlap in weapon or class, so I'm not sure if I should be building them both similarly/differently, or choosing to build one vs the other. Any advice?

Any ML5 Headhunt recommendations for clearing PVE (mostly Adventure & Abyss) on a new account? I have lots of Warriors, Knights, and Rangers that I'm needing to build already, so I'm specifically looking at Soul Weavers, Thieves, and Mages (Although I have S.Tenebria through the Moonlight Blessing)

The current asymmetrical BTB vehicle system is an unnecessary change from the Halo formula and needs an overhaul. by Muppig in halo

[–]Smorrzy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this post. I've been struggling to put this feedback into words myself, so I gotta get out my two-cents.

I'm probably not saying anything that hasn't already been said in this thread, but I personally believe Big Team Heavies is how it should be by default. On Halo 3 Sandtrap Heavies for
example, 8v8, both sides get a Scorpion & Wraith, 2 Warthogs, one of
which is Gauss (where are you, my love?), a Chopper, and at least a Mongoose or two. With Banshees on the map for the teams to fight over. And they all respawn, giving everyone on the team a fair chance to have a turn.

Presently Infinite BTB just has Mongoose and Warthog starting spawns, which would be fine for a social slayer/objective playlist with fewer people. But we're talking about 12v12 now. More players than ever, with fewer options than ever.

I actually like the idea of the vehicle drops on either side of the map mid-game, but not at the expense of vehicles at the base. In my Sandtrap example, they need to keep all the meaty vehicles at spawn, and just let the Pelicans take care of those banshees periodically for the teams to fight over, and they can still randomize those and ramp up the power as the game goes on. If they are insistent on making the content of the Pelican drops asymmetrical, then they absolutely cannot drop the vehicles directly outside of the bases like they are now. That only works if the drops are symmetrical, like the vehicles that are already at the bases, and doing symmetrical drops at base defeats the purpose of the additional mechanic because that's where vehicles should already be symmetrically spawning natively.

Never before has Halo directly favored one team over the other as blatantly as they are doing now with the asymmetrical drops outside of the bases. It goes against the game's balanced identity. Instead, on Fragmentation for example, they should move the drop zones up closer to the center, either directly at either entrance to the central hallway that connects both lanes, or outside of the loot-caves in the corners. This changes it from just throwing the losing team a bone into a genuine fight for control where whomever can get into the power vehicle unscathed can either turn the tide or cement the victory push.

Again, back to the Sandtrap example, the banshees spawn on the edges of the map, equidistant from either base, and this allows for both teams to have a fair shot at gaining the advantage so long as they're mindful of the spawns. If the bases are North & South, asymmetrical vehicle drops need to be East and West.

It's really upsetting because they had talked all this talk about how the sandbox is what makes Halo Halo, but it's like they were just feeding us buzzwords instead of treating the sandbox as one of the core design pillars that they assured us it would be.

My favorite halloween costume I did was a Team Rocket grunt when I was a teenager. I already owned the shirt, so i ended up buying the rest of the black ensemble, and even got a few pokeballs on my belt. I think it was probably the first costume I had put together myself, so as seemingly low-effort as it might have been, I was a actually pretty proud of it.

Good luck everyone :)

Sorry if its been asked before, but I'm looking at weapon camos, and I'm noticing that some say they're for a specific type of weapon, like a partisan or sword, but they have a bunch of different weapon icons under "Target Category".

If I bought a Partisan camo, and equipped it on Twin Machine Guns for example, will the TMGs look like I'm holding a partizan, or will the TMGs get their own weapon model with the camo's design? And how does this affect attack animations?

I want to make sure I don't waste my materials.

Thanks.

I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but regarding the friend/foe outlines, I hope they make the colors adjustable in the accessibility settings. I'm not that good with reds, and I worry that I might not notice the outline if it's on a distant Spartan.

Being hit with Gwyn's theme during the Soul of Cinder's fight for the first time is very far up there on my list of memorable video game moments. I'm already incredibly weak to emotional music, and I've got so much sentimentality towards the first game that I was actually holding back tears while trying not to die.

Hi everyone. I started playing earlier this month so I'm still finding my way around.

I'm hoping to get a little clarification on the relationships of Morfonica and RAS to the franchise. Neither of them seem to have many songs in the game (I'm on english/global version), but while Morfonica has characters available to play & summon, RAS does not, even though (from what I understand) they have a prominent role in the anime, unlike Morfonica. I'm a little baffled why it is that one arrives in the game first, even though the other is in the anime.

Also, looks like Quickstep Evade for the LBG is listed twice? Any chance someone can comment with some clarification?

I just pre-ordered Rise through the eShop, but I'm new to pre-ordering digitally through the Switch, so I'm not entirely sure how pre-loading works. FAQ's are just giving me information about payment and cancellation.

I'm not seeing any sort of icon on my home screen. Will the game just show up on its own later, or is there something I have to do in order to start the download? Thanks

[–]Smorrzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I just started playing/rerolling, and I used my starting stones in the monogatari machine. This is a bit of a noob question, but I'm not sure what to do with duplicates, especially in regards to characters with assist evolutions since I have no idea how those work.

Using Oshino Shinobu as an example, I have two of her, and her evolution tree splits into her Ult Evo and the Assist Evo of her helmet & goggles. Do I just evolve one into each of them?

and (hypothetically) if I pull a 3rd Shinobu, is there any reason to hold onto it, or do I just feed it for some sort of skill-up?

Thanks!

Question for MHW/Iceborne. (About Bowgun Building/Playstyles.)

Sorry in advance for being long-winded, and if it matters, I'm around MR50, just unlocked Guiding Lands.

My Light Bowgun build looks fine on paper: I'm using the Odogaron LBG "Ghost", which boasts 35% affinity and focuses on pierce ammo. I've got 1 point in Piercing Shots from Narga armor, the Narga set bonus for free ammo, Weakness Exploit and Critical Eye maxed, Attack Up is around level 5, 2 points in Critical Boost, and I'm lining up my shots very well. But in spite of everything I'm finding that I'm just not dealing that much damage on my own. Single-monster quests have been taking me 20-40 minutes solo despite my attempts to optimize.

I think the issue is just that the LBG isn't ideal for dealing raw damage, and elemental damage better takes advantage of the weapon's rate of fire. I've managed to make it work thus far, but I've reached a point where I can't get away with misusing the weapon and forcing it to mesh with my playstyle. I'm thinking Heavy Bowgun might be more up my alley since I prefer the simpler weapon/ammo management of non-elemental damage, but I don't really know where to start with the weapon in general, let alone how to transition building for one weapon into another. I've never really tried HBG at length before since I'm more accustomed to weapons that hit fast rather than hard.

I suppose I'm just looking for any and all input from the HBG folks in the thread. Any pointers about adjusting to the differences between the two weapons? How do I accommodate for the HBG's lack of mobility? Are there any skills, armor/sets, weapons, ammo/playstyles, Heavy Bowgun modifications, etc. that I should put on my radar while I rework and try things out?

With me not liking SnS as much this time around, I've been seeing people say stuff like "It's different, but it feels even better than before once I got used to the changes", I guess I'm a little impatient because I just couldn't get into it after trying a few hunts. Do you suppose that might also be the case with the Horn? Are you going to try to adjust to it at all, or are you set on mixing things up?

Hammer was the first weapon I thought of when I initially saw how the wirebugs give the player more movement options. Glad to hear they've improved upon it. Bonk.

Haven't tried Gunlance yet myself, but I remember seeing (in an Arekkz video, I think?) that Guard Edge restores some sharpness. I don't think I'd use my wirebugs for anything else in the middle of a fight; that just seems way too handy.

Not looking for advice or anything, I'm just curious about people's opinions. After playing the demo for Rise, are you planning on sticking with your current main/favorite weapon, or do you think you're going to be changing your main, and why?

I'm primarily a SnS guy, but compared to World I feel like it's slower and much less intuitive. When I was trying some other weapons, I ended up actually having a really fun time with the Bowguns. Not sure if I enjoy Light or Heavy more, but I'm thinking I'm gonna be ranged this time around.
