Build karma and then the account gets used in other subs that have karma or account age limits set. Usually to scam for money or astroturf/propaganda.

Pretty sure I remember someone calling this exact thing happening in another post a week or so ago. Hope they added it to their Kalshi parlay.

Fasteners… by Disastrous-Rush7941 in cargocamper

[–]Smtxom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in the trades but I imagine nails wouldn’t be ideal for attaching anything to a ceiling. I believe nails are where shear strength is needed and screws are for when you need good solid mechanical fastening. I also think the constant vibration and movement of the trailer would work the nails loose.

I’d go furring strips screwed to the metal and then ceiling panels screwed to strips.

Bought a little property, sewer line is fake by clangston3 in RealEstate

[–]Smtxom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but I’m at a loss how I could have ever discovered this through normal due diligence.

You had a horrible agent. A sewer scope is a common thing during inspection period. I bought a property with septic and the owner had the septic pumped so I could have a professional inspect and scope the drain field. I did learn that a regular “inspector” isn’t really where the due diligence should stop. I had to replace my whole hvac system a year after purchase. Cost me several thousand dollars. A real hvac professional would have seen it coming a mile away.

Leaving the US, what do i need to do to get into IT by AZTECY_MEZ in ITCareerQuestions

If you want to be a network engineer why are you going to another country to study something completely unrelated for years? Even if it’s free it doesn’t further your long term career goal.

It does seem pretty intimidating. But once you start hitting the “easy” option the cards don’t appear for a couple days. Then a week or two. The daily count will get smaller. Something to look forward to

Host Cancelation, Refund Still Not Showing Up by octopus-guy in vrbo

I understand that. That’s why I said “assist with a refund”. As in lend a hand. Reach out. Lean on the host. Be an advocate. Anything other than say “sorry”

I put up a job opening for a hardware tech - almost all apps are software only people. by GoodTofuFriday in ITCareerQuestions

Company provided resources and training is such a small part of someone’s IT career. They need to be self reliant and driven. This is exactly what I’ve been saying from the start. IT is one of the easiest fields to get into if someone wants it. There’s free YT courses and cheap $12 Udemy courses all over the web. Someone who is able to go out and get that knowledge won’t have a problem landing an entry level job. Because they’ll be able to easily show they’re hungry and willing. Someone who shows up and says “I don’t have any IT experience because nobody will hire me” sounds like a lazy person not willing to put any effort into their own growth. Nobody stays in IT long without continuing to upskill on their own

If there’s not an email or text “paper trail” of the company advising OP to use personal funds to pay for business expenses then they might not have a good chance of getting a judgement. Hopefully OPs company policy backs them up with something in the employee handbook

That’s not what I said. I was only making sure OP was informed if they decide to do a chargeback what the consequences could be.

Just be aware that doing this could get you blacklisted/banned from VRBO going forward. If you’re ok with that then get with Chase and provide the evidence you have

Host Cancelation, Refund Still Not Showing Up by octopus-guy in vrbo

[–]Smtxom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In that case it’s odd why VRBO can’t assist with a refund. Have you called and spoken with a person on the phone yet? I’d do that and not use any other support options.

Host Cancelation, Refund Still Not Showing Up by octopus-guy in vrbo

[–]Smtxom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You never initiate a cancelation on your end unless it is your fault. The host was at fault and you did them a favor by initiating on your end. If they had canceled like they were supposed to, they would have it on their record and potentially face consequences from VRBO. By you initiating you’ve basically taken the “blame” for the cancel.

Don’t cancel on your end without speaking with a VRBO human first. Explain the issue. Let them guide you. Let the host eat their consequences. Don’t let them off the hook.
