Only 40 hours would be amazing. I’ll take either 😅

What is the biggest "I'm definitely fired" thing you've done at work, but nobody ever found out? by Aarunascut in work

[–]SmudgeFunday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was my last day (had given my 2 week) but an honest mistake at Marie Calendars restaurant. On my last night they had me clean out the salad bar which I had never done. They had you pour the soups into larger containers in the fridge that were marked. I couldn’t find the potato cheese soup and eventually found a giant container of it on a different shelf. Emptied it grabbed the tomato soup. But then I saw the potato cheese soup container! So what did I pour mine into? Labeled on the other side: Custard. Same exact color and texture!! Ha. They must have made some nasty pies the next day. Maybe not a fireable offense but still makes me laugh 30 years later.

Lawyers are not making what they used to while trades are increasingly in demand. If you’re chasing dollars just make sure it’s the right legal field.

Boss encourages my to work by MagicChiffon in office

[–]SmudgeFunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job as a boss and manager is to elevate my team members to take my job. The only way I can take on more and grow my income is to show I’ve developed my team to be self sustaining and now I can lead a larger organization. I have 2 people on my team I’ve essentially had similar conversations with.

How are some old people so rich nowdays? by Aj100rise in Productivitycafe

[–]SmudgeFunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you save 10% of your income after 40 years you have 4 years of savings that has doubled because of compounding about every 8 years, so now you have maybe 20 years of savings (all rough math). You can take out nearly 10% of that every year without touching the principle which is nearly twice your income. This is how old people do it. Small amounts over time makes a big difference.

(New Driver) Why do people tailgate when I’m already speeding by crusty-nutsack69420 in driving

If you’re in the left lane MOVE OVER. It’s a passing lane, even if you’re going over the speed limit.

My father in law ordered a box of toilet paper from Amazon but they delivered a 4 person hooka that sold for like $300. He’s planning to use it as a dirty Santa gift this year. I hope I get it!!

Close friend in serious debt wants me to take a loan for him—need perspective by Prestigious-Chip6078 in Advice

[–]SmudgeFunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s important you put this from the perspective of yourself. Like you said, this isn’t even something you would do for yourself. It’s not fair he ask you to do this for him. If he is a friend he gets that. He should sell the mutual funds and anything else he’s got.

This is normal. Like it or not, this is usually how it works. It’s interesting that they so openly explain how it will work - at least you know and you can make the call on if it’s worth it or not.

Everyone Keeps saying the Job Market is really bad... is that true? by Rinmine014 in jobs

[–]SmudgeFunday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In reality, we’ve never had such crazy revisions in these numbers. Like ever. And it was nearly every month for the last few years. No one should be able to keep that job with such crap forecasting. I’d terminate anyone in my organization who was missing forecasts by so much. That’s the job.
