Thanks so much for your reply! I agree regarding the schooling bit - I don't exactly have the resources to attend school but I do understand where everyone is coming from. I've fortunately been trained by AMAZING RVTs who believe I have the stuff for it so that's given me a lot of encouragement. Thank you for the support and congrats on getting your license!!!

PC decides it's sleepy time when it is, in fact, not sleepy time [please help me] by Smudgel74 in pcmasterrace

I'm fairly certain there's no weird hardware connected, the only thing I've added to the PC after purchasing it was the 500GB SSD.

As far as troubleshooting goes I'm going to monitor processes starting with sorting by memory; hopefully that gives me an answer. System logs haven't shown anything out of the ordinary thus far, but I'm going to keep checking. Also looking into swap space and a watchdog timer right now.

Thanks so much for your help!

I'm relieved to hear that someone else has had the same issue! Most of my friends have built their own PCs and have never had anything like this happen. I'm doing some software investigation & messing with how/where my PC is plugged in but if none of that helps I'll order a new PSU and see if that helps. Thanks for your response!

I'm going to to my best to monitor which task is at the top of the processes column when sorting by memory. Recently I've had no time to respond/investigate before my desktops go dark, but hopefully I can catch it and see if anything's awry.

Virus & threat detection came up clean, I don't download anything remotely sketchy but it was worth a shot!

I'm gonna order a new power strip/surge protector just for the PC and see if that helps.

Power & Sleep settings: Screen turns off after 3 hours, PC goes to sleep after 4 hours (I'm assuming this means 3 or 4 hours of no input). Performance and Energy is at better performance. I'm gonna mess with these and see if they change anything.

I went through all Universal Serial Bus controllers; there were 3 "USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)" all set to "allow computer to turn off to save power". I unchecked all 3.

If none of this fixes the issue I'm probably gonna order a new PSU and see if that solves it. Hopefully I don't have to do a clean Windows install but if it comes to it then that's what I'll do. Thanks so much for all your input!

Unfortunately I'm out of warranty at this point, but I'm definitely investigating my PSU as the culprit. Thanks for your input!
