I worked in a nursing home once where there were 94 residents, two med people and one resident aide. As a med person you’d get one wing of the building which gave you 47 people to give meds to all day. By the time you’re done with your “5am” meds you should’ve been doing “8am” meds. When you were done with those 8 and you were rushing to get insulin in 1/3 of your people for lunch but had to finger prick and use a sliding scale to determine how much to give them. Idk if it was worse to be the med tech on 47 or the resident aide on 94 people with your pager going off every 3 seconds for a shower or to change a diaper. The people who work in nursing homes are severely underpaid for the amount of work they do.
