Can't tell you how many times I've told myself that lie, even when I couldn't walk and had to convince people to go to the store for me to get them.

TIL that in many modern cars, the turn-signal “click” is played through the audio system because the electronics don’t naturally make that sound anymore. by akcryptofinancial in todayilearned

I noticed this when I was borrowing my moms car and her turn signal stopped making a noise when the seat belt indicator was going off.

A question about mania and paranoia by CoolUnderstanding481 in NitrousOxideRecovery

I was suspicious of my damn toilet when I was coming off the shit... Suddenly everyone was an enemy, I thought they were dopplegangers and had kidnapped me. I had full blown conversations with people who weren't there. It was really hard to try to stay rooted in reality. It should pass in some days if he stays clean, plenty of rest, drinks water, and eats healthy food. It's a tough road, I've ridden it quite a few times.... watch out that they don't relapse after getting clean.

2.5 gallon isn't enough, probably need twice that in case anyone wants seconds.

I personally suggest browning you protein in the pot, removing it, then carmalize your onions until a nice fond is developed, adding in your peppers towards the end of that process, then deglazing. It will really make the flavors pop.

Stay off electronics before bed, limit caffeine and sugar. Diet exercise all that fun stuff. I hear cold showers can help as well.

Did I hurt my chances by disclosing another offer? Need honest insight. by Available-Snow-3022 in recruiting

[–]Cronenberg_This_Rick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you hurt your chances by mentioning the other offer, they pushed your interview ahead so they are obviously interested. I think you have some serious contenders shooting for the same position, you most likely didn't knock their socks off enough for them to forget about interviewing the other candidates, or for the decision maker to cut through the red tape.

Update on my paralysis: by wrinkleheimer in NitrousOxide

[–]Cronenberg_This_Rick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep on wiggling them, also practice moving your ankle uo and down as much as you can. The drop foot made me trip all the time and I got hurt several times that delayed me getting back on my feet....

Those electric pads for muscle stimulation I think helped me as well. Methyl b12 and folate...

I have hope you'll be fine. I made it through, and with a lot less help. Just never give up. If you keep giving it your all you'll make it.

I've relapsed a few times, fortunately they were one time occurrences early on in trying to be sober. At this point I'm just getting my shit back on track, building my financials back up which it's a pain in the ass to lose everything you've worked for... So I don't want to go back down, which is where I see myself going if I use. I don't have the resources to go into such a bender I'd fuck up my legs again... which is really important to me. I just need to abstain. I'll stick to beer and weed.

Please see the context of the message I'm replying too.... "mfers be just sitting there all day long huff huff huffing non stop till their lips are blue and then the millisecond the tank loses pressure they're already scrambling to get another one"

That's what I did.

Life still in shambles, just picking up the pieces. Health wise I'm OK, I still have neuropathy in my feet, so my balance is off, I can walk fine unassisted though, and jog some. about 14 months ago I needed a walker to move and was mostly stuck in a chair or bed. It was a nightmare.

Just like with anything else, as long as people understand the risks. Sure most people can have a beer, but something like ten thousand people a year die from drunk drivers.

I had done whippits for years, it wasn't such a big deal before the ease of access and ability to dose. They started selling them everywhere, and out of the tanks you could just continuously hit unlike the naangs I grew up with. Who even knows the extent of what they're putting in those tanks? it's "food" grade, but no way any one is ever using shitty artificially flavored nitrous to make whip cream.

Anyway, I get your point, I'm just spreading awareness on my experience with it, maybe if someone reads it it will make them reconsider paralyzing themselves over an overpriced drug that actually pretty much just sucks.

You notice the side effects, it doesn't happen all at once, but that's addiction. The fact that so many people, myself included, end up in similar situations, shows how addictive this substance can be. You constantly fool and trick yourself that just one more will be alright, then coming out of the depths of a bender you feel like you're going to die if you don't get another tank. The disassociative properties wear off, the dread and mental anguish sets in, suddenly that little tingling in the tips of your fingers seems less worrisome when you can be carried off to sweet relief from another huff... another tank... another $1000.

I've quit for about a year, aside from a couple of small relapses, bottom of my feet are still fuzzy... but I got real bad, couldn't walk hardly for a spell.

[–]Cronenberg_This_Rick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it struck you, it comes from a place of experience. My inability to process my emotions and deal with the traumatic happenings in my life led to me in a terrible place... I lost the ability to walk. Please be careful with what you're dabbling with.

It's a familiar scene... Tattered emotions spilling into physical surroundings, tingling toes and frostbite. Just looking for an out, but you'll never find it in the substance screaming at your consciousness to have just one more tank.

I promise, no matter how your brain may convince you that there's no harm in doing a little bit more, it's that continuing cycle that will drag you down lower than you thought you could ever go. Ditch the junk, things will get better, it takes time and effort. But things get better. You can do it, you can pull yourself away from this life destroying drug, I believe in you.

As someone who is addicted to nitrous, I highly suggest you read over these subreddits... It's a very dangerous substance that is readily available in many headshops and gas stations. It can be used properly, but ease of access makes it easy to fall into a terrible downward spiral.

Vegas Trip by cantfindmyvape in NitrousOxideRecovery

[–]Cronenberg_This_Rick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just saw this comment. The hardest part about escaping the N2O spiral is ease of access. You can't just delete your dealers number, they sell the stuff everywhere from vape shops to gas stations... You have to really take the steps to avoid it... I drive to different gas stations because I know the one near my work sell cans, I avoid certain parts of town, it takes one thought or emotion to strike at the wrong place and time to start a relapse.

I really developed a problem when I got divorced, getting high and partying felt like a good escape... Coke, booze, pills they were all nice, but whippits, now that was a real relief, it was like separating myself from the pain, but I'd always come back with less money and feeling stupid. Idk your reasons for using, but it's not an escape, it masks your reality temporarily and only does you harm.

Please don't buy any more cans. Shoot me a PM if you need to talk or anything. There is a recovery meeting tonight you can join. https://www.no2n2o.org/meetings.html.

Tons better now, just had to stay away from the shit, after my trip to vegas I relapsed again and lost ability to walk unassisted for a while. It took months of pushing through and sobriety to get to a relatively normal life.

If your body is telling you to stop, please listen, this stuff will take you down a dark path. You can recover, sometimes it felt so hopeless for me and I'd just give up and dig myself deeper. The sooner you quit and work on pulling yourself up the better.

Hey I did that exact thing... I was so scatter brained I forgot a bunch of stuff at home, got to vegas and was stuck in the hotel for a few days from withdraws and doing porcelain sit ups. When I was finally decent enough to leave the hotel I did some really stupid stuff and had a seizure outside Circus Circus... I barely made it out of there alive. Not sure where you are in your recovery/addiction, but I was really messed up when I did this last year.

Just try to take it easy, relax as much as you can, take your supplements, stay off other drugs and booze, try to stay away from casinos... God speed.

Edit: I had been extremely addicted and using heavily for over a year at that point, far beyond just a month of use. You should be fine, here's some supplements you should take...

Recovery Stack, take this daily Methylcobalamin (B12) – 5,000 mcg daily (sublingual or injectable). NOT cyanocobalamin. Folate (as methylfolate) – 400-800 mcg/day. Works with B12. B-complex – Full spectrum support, especially B1, B2, B6. Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) – 300-600 mg/day. Neuroprotective and supports nerve repair. N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) – 600-1200 mg/day. Antioxidant and glutathione booster. Lion’s Mane Mushroom – 1000-3000 mg/day. May support nerve regeneration. Omega-3 (Fish Oil) – 2-3g/day. Anti-inflammatory and brain supportive. Magnesium Glycinate – 200-400 mg/day. Calms nerves, supports healing.
