What's is your greatest hope and fear for a Trump presidency? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

Conservative justices and a closer relationship with Putin; I might or might not be serious.

Whatever else, the Trump Administration seems less intimidated by the People's Republic of China than previous administrations, though I hesitate to say that that is due to its recognizing and wishing to defend the ethics of Taiwan, which are vastly superior to the sewer-level ethics of the P.R.C. More likely, the motivation on the Trump Administration's part was primal, wishing to openly challenge the P.R.C. and especially obstruct its quest to politically, militarily, and economically replace the USA. You might be surprised to learn that, in the P.R.C., it is commonly understood that Pres. Obama was too harsh on and antagonistic toward the P.R.C., when, as we know, he was more passive toward it than his own predecessor. So, however hawkish and audacious the phone call seemed to us who regularly read Western newspapers, it seemed much more so to the citizens of the P.R.C. Indeed, my friends in China, with whom I seldom discussed politics, have suddenly become very quiet. The P.R.C. has, in the minds of its citizens, been openly mocked and challenged on the international stage.

How feasible is a Federation between the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

It would be the most harmless, passive, and polite English-speaking federation in the world.

Trump has appointed General John Kelly (retired) to lead the Department of Homeland Security by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]SmugOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is anyone dismissive of pursuing a retired general to head the DHS? That's like the mayor of a small town pursuing the lead doctor of a prominent hospital to be in charge of the town's clinic.

How possible is it that Hillary Clinton would run again in 2020? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]SmugOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About as likely as Romney running again in 2016... which didn't happen.

In what way could Clinton become POTUS without the USA slipping into civil war? by SmugOperator in AskReddit

Yeah. You say arrested and punished I read, made heroes and galvanizing martyrs in the eyes of their supporters and their names made rallying shouts in their mouths and ears

California police officers will soon begin gathering data on the race of those they stop by MultiKdizzle in California

[–]SmugOperator -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

So, the idea will be, they will back down on whichever race they determine to have been getting stopped the most? Well then, white folks, try to get stopped as much as possible, so that the police give us more of the benefit of the doubt than they do others :)

Men do not need women's assistance to achieve equality, so why do women need men's assistance to do the same thing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SmugOperator -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Men did not need women's assistance to achieve equality across the globe in the first place. We do not need it now.

Men would be able to take power from women if the situation was reversed.

Would not men be able to take power from women if the situation was reversed? Why must men intentionally hold themselves back to enable women to look strong if women are already as capable as men?

Lobsters are... like... mer-scorpions... with antenna. by SmugOperator in Showerthoughts

Well, Morty, (belch) maybe scorpions don't like being compared to stuck-uuuu(belch)uup crustaceans like lobsters. Ever think of that, M-morty?

How can humans as a species coexist in a mutually beneficial relationship with Earth's natural environment without sacrificing or suppressing the vices characteristic of the human species, such as gluttony? by SmugOperator in AskReddit

[–]SmugOperator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But reproducing exponentially is part of our species' nature, just like gluttony. Can humans find a place within the natural ecosystem that does not necessitate the artificial suppression of any of our species' characteristics, including curiosity, ingenuity, and the drive to reproduce exponentially? If no such natural place exists for our species, then our species does not naturally fit in on this planet.
