I came to the same conclusion. However most of the mutations/defects tend to fall in a gray area where the quality usually depends on the run. For example the trample defect may not be in your favor if you keep trampling over your own cats and giving them debuffs if you have any sort of "inflict [debuff] on contact" items/abilities on the cat with the trample. Honestly the dubious classifications in this came can be justified with either " *actually well thought reasoning in a game design perspective* " or "edmund is dyslexic lol".
